WTF are the Kings protecting Brown?

I am happy that they protected Brown. No reason to roll the dice, he's an excellent leader, they've talked about him still working with every prospect, he's one of the best goal scorers on the team and is still one of the most physical forwards we have on the team, and finally, he f***ing earned it. He brought himself back to life and has proven that he is literally the most dedicated King in the history of the team and deserves to finish his career here if he so chooses. You don't f***ing trade or let Dave Taylor walk and you absolutely don't with Brown as well. He's a King for life and can play on the bottom 6 for life as far as I'm concerned.

My guess at what Seattle does…only ufa I put is

Van Riemsdyk-Domi-Tarasenko
Drouin-Gourde-Eberle
Niederreiter-Jarnkrok-Dadonov
Bunting-Girgensons-Athanasiou
Compher/Aston Reece

Giordano-Demelo
Edler(ufa)-Zadorov
Dermott-Lauzon
Soucy/Guhle

Driedger/Vanecek/Kahkonen

Beniers at the draft…

Offense is solid…defense, not so much. Too hard to pass on Tarasenko for Dunn though…

Stop with the Brown hate. Not many 50 point pace players with a sub 6 mil cap hit. Plus, if we suck, we could trade him to a contender for a hefty fee at the deadline… easy protect for me…

I know this isn't NHL 2021 but this list pretty crazy to build around...

Alex Ovechkin
Gabriel Landeskog
Vladmir Tarasenko
Taylor Hall
Zach Hyman
Alex Killorn / Ondrej Palat
Kyle Palmieri

Mark Giordano
Dougie Hamilton
Shayne Gostisbehere
Ryan Suter
Jake Bean

Carey Price
Chris Driedger

For obvious scoring reasons. Plus his wife just got hired within the org, so I think that may have factored in. I don't have a problem with it, would you rather they protected Wagner?
Clague, or any other player with a future in the NHL beyond one or two more seasons.

Horsesh*t IMO.

For how long much longer can he still play.

He does have one year left on his contract, after that, you’d have to think he’ll go year by year, like we’ve seen with the likes of Thornton, Marleau, and Spezza.

This is more of an indictment on the sad state of offense on the Kings, but the oldest player on the roster led the team in goals, and he missed a decent amount of games. That said, he clearly doesn’t have much gas left in the tank.

This is business not hate.

no we should trade Kempe like you imply. One of the few players who actually improved last season.

He’s been in the league for 5 years now and has yet to crack the 40 point mark. He’ll be 25 this season, and I think his value will only go lower. Just my opinion though…

I’m not “arguing” or “hating” on Brown, I’m just surprised they protected him since the chances of Seattle taking him are pretty low. Not like Blake has been much for loyalty to this organization over the years either, so surprised he’s showing it to Brown.

Oh, one of those….

You don’t think coming back and signing with the team that threatened to trade him if he didn’t accept their ultimatum didn’t show loyalty when he returned to the Kings a second time, then a third time when he was hired in a front office role?

They cannot fit 60% of those players under the cap

I think he followed the money, which is fine and his right to do so, but that’s not loyalty. Anyway hope Brown retires a king so doesn’t bother me, just wasn’t really expecting it.

I would have swapped Quick and Brown. Brown can be replaced by a better player and Quick is a cheap option to retain as backup as the Kings would be grooming a Wallstedt or someone else to develop in the minors.
