Speculation: Seattle Expansion Draft Thread.......

Brown was terrible the last 20 games. Was falling down a lot, couldn't make rudimentary plays, was ineffective on any line he played, and no longer hitting anyone.
He is pretty much done, now. He will not get any better. He will never score 18 goals again and I would wager not hitting 15 this year.

If players like Kupari, Turcotte, Kaliyev, Fagemo, Thomas, Madden all have great Summers and are hungry and want jobs,
Brown will only make the team, based on TMac being gracious and over respectful to Brown. (yes, he has earned respect, but should not make the team,
if beaten out by another. That is not respect, that is not doing the right thing)
Brown got injured in the beginning of March and wasn't healthy the rest of the season.

I’m curious how much medical information the Kraken get on all the exposed guys? I’d hope it’s everything and anything they want. But if it’s not everything, it makes me wonder about these convenient injuries floated by media about high priced, yet very valued, vets like Price and Weber. Maybe it’s all 100% valid….maybe

Their logo is generic and ugly…

Oh, I get it. Seattle being a seafaring town and all that red thing in there is "the little man in the boat".

I also think if Seattle was smart they grab Quick and trade him to a team like Edmonton, Toronto or Colorado with retention. Yes he is old but look what he did last year in front of a crap team and one of the worst defense in the league. Put him on a more structured team that can clean up some of the mess and get them on a hot streak and he can carry a team to the cup

His age isn't the issue, its the injury frequency. No playoff team is going to want to hedge their chances on Quick not getting hurt.

If I am Francis, I am taking either Strand or Clague.

Strand has the makings of Willie Mitchell the sequel. 6'4" 210 freaking steady, never gets knocked down, makes split half second decisions that are the right one, 100% of the time, accurate passes that are 70 mph crisp on the tape. Good in front of the net. Neutralizes opponents effectively. 0-1 gaffes per game. Mitchell also was late bloomer. I would ALMOST have traded Walker and protected him. He's better than McNabb, that the GK's took
I liked Strand A LOT this season, but I don’t think the Kraken will take him. Not enough games played to know him well.

This is business not hate.

no we should trade Kempe like you imply. One of the few players who actually improved last season.

improved? you mean like improving on taking o-zone penalties or going months without scoring. 1/4 of his goals came in one game. 2 goals in his last 22 games while on the top line at time just screams improvement.

Not surprised at Tarasenko being exposed. he wanted to be traded and has minimal value. He's not going to be on the team next season so no point in protecting him. if seattle takes him, the blues now have $7.5 million in cap space they can use on an upgrade like landeskog.

....... grating commentating.......

Have they tried holding auditions for somebody competent/mature/professional enough to fill Bob Miller's shoes??? I betcha if they just friggin' TRIED, they could find somebody much, much better than who they have now. Sadly, I think the org. is happy with Faust, despite the fact that none of us are.

This is what I would do if I was Seattle and wanted to make an impact right away:

Voracek (PHI) -Domi (CLB) -Tarasenko (STL)
Palat (TBL) -Kerfoot (TOR) - Eberle (NYI)
Ritchie (BOS) -Compher (COL) -Pitlick (ARI)
Girgensons (BUF) -Trenin (NSH) -Gauthier (NYR)

Other Forwards: Mason Shaw (MIN), Tyler Benson (EDM), Dylan Gambrell (SJ), Sam Lafferty (PIT)

Giordano (CAL) - DeMelo (WPG)
Oleksiak (DAL) - Shattenkirk (ANA)
Zadorov (CHI) - Brown (OTT)

Other Defense: Kulak (MTL), Jake Bean (CAR), Dennis Cholowski (DET), David Quenneville (NJ), Clague (LA)

Goalies:

Holtby (VAN)
Driedger (FLA)
3rd - Vanacek (WAS)

In the Pacific, that's a playoff team. The defense isn't spectacular, but Kulak or Bean will definitely get a shot to see what they do away from crowded D cores. Clague would probably get a look as well.

Yeah, 15/20 goal scorers score one goal every 3 games, right ?

3/4 of his goals came in all the other games !

My guess at what Seattle does…only ufa I put is

Van Riemsdyk-Domi-Tarasenko
Drouin-Gourde-Eberle
Niederreiter-Jarnkrok-Dadonov
Bunting-Girgensons-Athanasiou
Compher/Aston Reece

Giordano-Demelo
Edler(ufa)-Zadorov
Dermott-Lauzon
Soucy/Guhle

Driedger/Vanecek/Kahkonen

Beniers at the draft…

Offense is solid…defense, not so much. Too hard to pass on Tarasenko for Dunn though…

This team will most certainly smoke the Kings and have a winning record against us in their inaugural season. Lol.

That would be a beast team and what I thought VGK would be at the start--basically 2 2nd lines, 2 3rd lines, can roll em with anyone. And that's before accounting for random explosions like Karlsson, which Drouin/Gourde/Dadonov could easily do.

Meh top 6 is a bunch a has beens that can’t drive a line. Maybe they get motivated from a reality that they weren’t protected and had to move across the country. But we will see.

LMFAO!!!Not protecting Landeskog I'd all over that like Flies-to-Shit if I'm Expansion Seattle Kraken and sign him to whatever he wanted F... Colorado
What's the point of Seattle picking Landeskog? So they can give him 1 extra year on his contract? Can't he not sign with them if they pick him? Or can't they just sign him to a 7 year max contract as a free agent and take someone else from Colorado?

On second thought, I hope Seattle doesn't take Price. He'll burn the Kings the way Fluery has. Only Jones has a better record against the Kings than Fluery. We don't need another guy like that in the division.

I have the same question.

There may be a loophole in the draft rules that isn’t clear.

Seattle can sign any unprotected FA (UFA or RFA) between the 17th and the 28th and offer an 8-year contract.

Also, if Seattle signs an FA between the 17th and 21st, it becomes the draft selection for that club.

So what happens if they draft a player from the Aves on the 21st, then sign Lando on the 23rd to that 8-year contract?

1. Can they continue to sign FAs after the expansion draft?

2. If they can, would their draft selection revert back to the original club?

A bit loose then rules in that area.

I'm bored waiting for Friday night. So having said that, I see Jake Bean was left unprotected. I don't know anything about him and how he's developed the past few years. But he has decent size, LHD and the right age for us (23). How about a Kraken expansion selection / trade.....Kings #8OA for Bean + Seattle 2021 2nd round pick.
