Based on Berube comments and delay in getting definitive word, figured he was going to need surgery. It’s a shame, but feels like his blues career is over before it ever really started.

Perunivich out at least 6 months. Needs surgery.

My guess is we won't see him all season, because even if he comes back in 6 months, dude is gonna be rusty.

This sucks.

A bone injury is probably good news for him at this point, but JR’s report is pretty vague about the actual injury. What bone is broken? But the fact it’s not a reinjury is good news.

I don't think this ends his career
his skating and vision are his strengths and those will be fine
hope he goes to Vladi's last surgeons

and drinks a lot of milk

He'll get another league minimum deal for next season, he'll still be exempt from waivers, so he'll probably have to start there to get games in before making another push for the big club.

Not really, doesn't matter if it's a reinjury or a new injury if the guy can't stay healthy. He's just going to keep injuring new things because he's fragile as shit.

That’s what’s a little odd here. A basic broken bone doesn’t take 6 months to heal. Likely a fair assumption that there was a good amount of damage beyond a broken bone.

If you have to use screws and/or a plate you have to do a fair amount of cutting to get there

I’m a little skeptical how accurately JR is describing the injury. I won’t be surprised if we hear it’s a lot more complicated. You’re right the info released doesn’t add up.

Speaking as a physician, it’s a huge difference to me in what I would expect for his return to contact and expectations for his recovery.

This one just sucks for the player. Usually with injuries I'm guilty of thinking about how it affects the Blues and not enough about the guy himself, but I'm feeling for Perunovich on this one.

And there it is.

Just like last season, he can be an option if they’re really desperate for a d-man in the playoffs.

Really sucks for him, his development and his career.
As Brian39 so frequently highlights in his posts, future career earnings is a massive piece in this situation. He'll get healthy, but Perunovich has just taken a major blow.

Unless he magically comes back, stays healthy and relevant, and lands somewhere (else), I'm afraid that his hockey talents may never translate into lifelong financial security.
