PP was not very good with him tbh.I think Krug on IR helps the tank. The PP will take a hit.

It's probably wishful thinking. He 100% could have been dealing with lingering effects, but this injury is probably from the Vegas game. The issue with Krug and to an extent Faulk is the lack of consistency year to year. Krug's first season wasn't bad, but underwhelming because we didn't deploy him correctly. Last season he over-performed to incredible degrees, highlighted by a PDO of 106. And this season has been the exact opposite with a PDO of 96, and just being a dumpster fire.
Could be a deep bone bruise or stress fracture, that would fit the timeline and how he skated off. Also could be true that he's had lingering issues, and this last one is just one too many to play through. We just don't know.So he limps a bit after blocking the shot but then full out sprints to the bench. Hard to sprint with a lower body injury severe enough to keep you out for 6 weeks…
Odd.
But regardless, hopefully he recovers well and is back to prime Krug form when he returns.
Tarasenko is being reevaluated in 4 weeks, and hand injuries aren’t usually the type to linger so I think he’ll certainly be back before the deadline. ROR reevaluated in six weeks is a bit more questionable, but that would still be mid February so he should be alright. Just means neither guy can go on a scoring heater and increase their value much. They better be back before TDL, otherwise DA and the Blues are completely eff’d. This has ramifications that would last years and years.
or he could have traded them a month ago, not like this team has shown they are anything different than what they showed in october and november. armstrong has mishandled the entire offseason starting with his obsession to resign leddy and keeping mikkola. Then he shafted perron and chuckie.Obviously simultaneous injuries to two members of the top 6 and your best two potential trade assets sucks.
With that said, the timing could absolutely be worse. The injury timelines should have them back in the lineup before the trade deadline. But more importantly, they should be fully recovered by playoffs.
This is much better than if they had both suffered these injuries a month from now. This is much better than Tarasenko suffering a shoulder injury and broken bones typically heal mid-season better than knees/shoulders/hips. If you had to choose injuries for them to suffer, broken bones with a recovery timeline in February would be a better choice than most of the serious injuries you can get playing hockey.
But good lord it had to be both?
No one has the cap space to take them on right now. That's why most trades are done at the deadline where teams will have more sap spaceor he could have traded them a month ago, not like this team has shown they are anything different than what they showed in october and november. armstrong has mishandled the entire offseason starting with his obsession to resign leddy and keeping mikkola. now he holds onto people and hopes his team will magically flip a switch when we all see what our eyes are watching every game. this team is pathetic and hopeless and the trades should have been flying after the 2nd long losing streak.
i bet both of these people take longer than the 4/6 weeks for each respectively. and with our luck, they will hold on to barbashev and he will get hurt in late Feb. this dude just f***ed our short and long term outlooks in the matter of 6 months. He has downgraded EVERY position this offseason
So absorb the cap yourself? If all you want is picks back, you can eat some cap. This team is going nowhere and everyone knew it and now their top 2 returns are banged up. The Blues could easily absorb 50% of these cap hits and it would likely bring back an even bigger haul by doing so. If Stillman truly wants to be a good owner he needs to look at the bigger picture and that bigger picture means limiting how long a rebuild/tool takes. This dumb decision by Armstrong has just potentially added 2 or 3 more years to a retool because of his pathetic hope of this garbage team turning things around. No one has the cap space to take them on right now. That's why most trades are done at the deadline where teams will have more sap space
The Blues played their best hockey last season during the covid stretch but that was only because of Chuckie coming in and changing the mindset and work ethic of the team. Husso then came in and relieved Chuckie for the majority of the season after that. Will be hilarious to see the Blues win ten of twelve with 90 and 91 now sidelined. You'd think removing talent would aid the tank, but removing malcontents may just inspire the guys who want to be here to get used to the idea that this is their team now. If either guy has played their last game as Blues, so be it.
