I know I should not do this, but I just read the Devils and Islander boards... Wow, they are bitter
All of HFBoards is a terrible idea to read. This is ****ing ridiculous and just makes me mad. Yes the better team USUALLY wins in a 7-game series, but to say that the series will be so one sided that the games shouldn't even be played is insane.
Didn't know where to ask this but you think the big tv in front of the MSG entrance will be playing the game whether they be playing away or even at the garden? Might end up doing that if it's true

damn I could of sworn they'll play the game out on the tv when the game is going on inside. I wish they did a viewing party at the garden when the game is on the road at least

So i was just thinking of what we had to go through to get here.
-Absolute ABYSSMAL start to the year. looked like we were in for a tough year (a billion game road trip to start the season and all that too)
-Played round 1 without kreider and at that point, A likely still injured Mcdonagh.
-Played round 2 against a team we've never beaten (PIT)
-Beat PIT for the first time AND erase a 3-1 deficit for the first time ever (thanks CBJ voodoo!)
-Knocked out the "2 best players in the world and the state of pennsylvania
-Knocked out Canada's sweetheart out of the playoffs after everyone thought we'd get killed (just like the PIT series)
-Made it to the cup finals despite adversity like Stepan's jaw, carcillo suspension, moore suspension, miller injury etc
and now of course we are the ultimate underdogs going against the big bad west. As one devils fan put it (ugh) Remember when those juggernaut red wings we're going to sweep the devils with a breeze?
What a journey.

I remember back in 94' going to watch Game 3 of the finals inside MSG on Gardenvision. Awesome experience!
The next time wasn't so great. 07' Game 5 when Drury scored with 7.7 seconds left and Afinigenov won it on OT. Brutal.

The Islanders board I just find funny. I agree with what Torts said last season: I don't buy the rivalry. It's totally manufactured by Islanders fans.
I'm 23 years old. For my entire life, the Islanders have been the biggest bunch of non-competitive scrubs in the league. How can I hate a team that's a perennial loser? On top of that, the fanbase had to deal with a grueling six years of the worst GM in modern hockey and Garth Snow's not that far behind. If anything I feel bad for Islanders fans because that means they're stuck rooting for the Islanders.

If we win game 1 the first thing i'd do is celebrate like a mad man. The second thing i'd do is go to the devils board and watch them lose their **** because the sky is falling, the titanic is sinking, the the apocalypse is coming.
I almost forgot about NJD and NYI, will they even be around next year? Will the Islanders change name to Broklyn and when?

There are also those of us who were around when they were trouncing the **** out of us in the playoffs like 5 times in 9 years, en route to four straight Cups. When I watched an expansion Islanders team wins four Cups in their first 12 seasons, and the team you follow has won 3 in almost 90 years, it's hard to get too cocky. I also just love the game of hockey and I used to go to their games on LI every chance I could to see Trottier, Bossy, Potvin, Gillies, and company. That was an epic hockey team. And meeting and getting autographs from guys like Trots, Nystrom, Gillies, Tonelli, etc after games was awesome. They had some great teams and I respect their history.

And to everyone who believes that we would have reached the finals with Cally instead of MSL,Nope, not a chance. I love Cally for what he has done for this organisation but he was never a playoff performer and to think that these 2 players are interchangable is to discredit the impact MSL has had on this team.
I resisted my strong urge to post this last round on the Habs board saying, You guys forgot this one

Since 2008, every original Atlantic Division team except the Islanders will have made it to the Finals. Penguins back to back in '08 and '09 vs the Red Wings(moved from West to East), the Flyers vs the Blackhawks in '10 and the Devils vs the Kings in '12. Now in '14 the Rangers will face off against either the Blackhawks or Kings. Hoping the Rangers fair a little better in their trip. Just makes me weary of the Isles in '16.
