Probably true. Hard to imagine being blown out unless Hank or McDonagh goes down.

I think the Rangers will have a huge edge in Game 1 because I think the winner of the West will at least unconsciously believe they have beaten their toughest opponent.

We really need to go into LA/CHI and steal game 1 just like we did in Montreal.

Eh, that was all playoff emotion. I think Steps forgave him and I think Prust really felt bad and was only trying to get something going for his team. Now I'm not saying I'd be upset if that happened, but I'm definately not as mad as i was a week ago. For some reason... :naughty:

I actually believe it was more Therrein telling him to play dirty, and it would not surprise me. Therrien is a bag of scum.

Either way, Prust did what he did... I'm glad him and steps settled, but that **** is unacceptable

Voting aside. I thought Zucc, Dorsett, Moore, MSL and boyle had MONSTER games in terms of speed and forecheck. It was just ridiculous.

AV was super smart to start the game with the 4th line. Even smarter, nailed into their heads that they needed to PLAY HOCKEY, not start crap on the ice with MTL. It worked

Yeah, I can't disagree with you there. I feel like they beat themselves trying to play that type of game with the Rangers. Therrien really needs to find other ways to get his team going because some of the antics in that series were embarrassing.

Anyone who watched the NBC feed last night. Take a look at the sound difference on CBC. MSG sounds 3 times louder.
Goosebumps.

That audio wasn't as good as NBC's for once (even though the overall coverage was better). Lots of tripping the compressor. NBC has so much head room on their feed that the volume of the crowd was actually coming through naturally.

Got this from another board. I had a chuckle.
Breaking News: Shake Up in Montreal Canadiens Front Office
Montreal Canadiens owner Geoff Molson wasted no time in cleaning house after the New York Rangers ousted his team from the playoffs last night. He terminated the contracts of: Wes McCauley, Paul Devorski, Dennis LaRue and Don Van Massenhoven. "They simply did not perform well for us in the playoffs" Molson told a packed presser earlier today.
He also announced two promotions: longtime favorite Dan O'Halloran to team president, while Greg Loughanis moves from diving coach to GM

absolutely... it's a damn shame, because this MTL team has some solid players, and a decent system... This whole "i'm an *******, deal with it" mentality of Therrien is sickening... worse off, it doesn't get anything done if the other team (which the rangers did at one point) does not buy into that scheme of hockey game.

The other issue is that some of MTL players are simply too old, and/or too slow. Motivation and coaching changes do not mean anything if the personnel on the ice cannot execute those changes properly... The speed of the rangers, including some of the slower defensemen (Stralman and Klein in particular) are SO fast, and that is mostly because they are young, skilled, confident, and most of all motivated to execute what the coach is asking of them.

Asking Andrei Markov to do the same is a bit taxing.

Devils fan here I come in peace. Congrats guys you deserved to win that series. I may not be able to root for you guys next series but I hope it goes 6 or 7 and makes for some great hockey.

I hope you do. Your board is very upset that we got as far as we did. :shakehead

Congratulations guys. You guys played a flawless game and at every turn throughout the series outplayed us. I always figured that the Rangers had guys who could skate fast but I wasn't expecting basically the whole team to be able to. It was basically a wave of attack after attack and the third period last night sums up the overall play of the series. When the Rangers needed to step it up they delivered. So here's to a great final between the Kings/Hawks. It certainly will be an intense one :handclap:

In Jonathan Quicks 6 year NHL Career he's had Save Percentages over .920 only twice.

Henrik has done it 6 out of his 8 years. Including the last 5 years in a row.

Quick had 2 great playoff runs the last 2 years, but he's just been "good" this year.

Despite that, their save percentages are nearly identical (.922 vs .924)

I'm sorry. That is not a wash in goaltending. Henrik is the better goalie. Statistics EASILY back that up.

Statistics aside, talking in terms of actual technical goaltending…while Lundqvist and Quick have different styles, Quick is just as technically proficient as Lundqvist.

They're both on the same level, just different styles.

I would much rather face Crawford than Quick in the Final.

What a difference rolling 4 lines and 3 pairs makes. Whereas we have our top performers, I think that this team doesn't have "role players" traditionally defined. everyone is contributing and can be trusted it seems.

I'll catch it for this one but the moves Sather made last offseason and this year have really worked out well for us.

Thanks hombre.

This post is amazing

I am also wrecked. Just sitting here thinking about what might have been. There's no doubt in my mind that they still would have gotten this far had the trade not been made. I don't want to hear about MSL's goal, gimme a break, he's been mediocre at best.

As a matter of fact, they probably would have had an easier road to the Finals thanks to Cally's grittiness and his guiding hand on and off the ice. I mean I have to be awake in 4 hours and I'm just sitting here doing shots as I numbly watch the highlights. He should be there accepting the Prince of Wales trophy.

Anyway, I am not good at photoshop but made this to try to feel better. May you find solace in it as well.

Yep. I was at two of those games. Was a stunning defeat.

I was one of the guys on the ice hooking up the net cams.

Not even close to a Devils fan, NOT EVEN CLOSE... but being in Brodeur's crease right before the game while he was warming up next to me and then watching the cup awarded was a very cool moment in my life.
