Devils fan here I come in peace. Congrats guys you deserved to win that series. I may not be able to root for you guys next series but I hope it goes 6 or 7 and makes for some great hockey.

Vanek was as bad in this series as Staal was, but both players were excellent in the previous rounds.

It happens. McDonagh sucked (and thats putting it lightly) against Philly, showed signs of coming around against the Pens, and was the best Ranger skater in the CF.

You're not going to get a four-round dominant performance from a skater. It's impossible to sustain that kind of consistency unless you're a guy like Richard or Gretzky or Orr.

Leetch was shut down by the Devils for most of the seven games in 1994, and was bobby orr in the finals.

The Rangers need to keep doing what theyre doing -- roll four lines, and get contributions from everyone. You're not going to score 4-5 goals a night against either team.

The Kings have eight forwards with 4 or more goals. The Rangers have seven. Chicago has 4.

I would go as far as to say that McD was the best Ranger -- skater or otherwise -- period this past series. He was that good.

Now that this series is over, I'm going to say that I really hope McIlrath beats the ever living **** out of Prust our first game against Montreal next season. I literally want him to beat Prust's face into hamburger meat.

Blues fan here to say congratulations Ranger fans, what a run keep it going guys. Win that cup!!!!

Pretty well thought out response to what was far from a "Homer" post as it gets. I'll start with the obvious, in which I'd take Lundqvist 10 out of 10 times before Quick..

Well thank you for your well thought out response to my well thought out response. I especially thank you for taking the time to read and digest what I meant with my post, it's very refreshing. Oh one other thing:

sar·casm
ˈsärˌkazəm/
noun
noun: sarcasm; plural noun: sarcasms

the use of irony to mock or convey contempt.
"his voice, hardened by sarcasm, could not hide his resentment"
synonyms: derision, mockery, ridicule, scorn, sneering, scoffing;

I'm always in the minority

On the main board sure. I really liked your analysis of the Rangers/Montreal and it was spot on.

When McD is on his game, he neutralizes whatever line he is playing against. He makes that outlet, transition so easy it's nearly impossible for the other team to create a forecheck.

I always marvel at how the other team dumps it in, MCD gets it first in the back end and the play is going the other way before the lead forechecker or 2 can even transition to defense.

He doesn't have to be Bobby Orr, he just allows the Rangers to go seamlessly on the attack for 20 minutes of the game. That said, the Rangers haven't played a team with the forechecking tenacity and puck possession of LA, or the puck possession of Chicago.

Nice to see the Rangers playing as well as they can, even if it was at the expense of my team.

I don't think NYR matches up poorly against either the Kings or the Hawks. Both potential series' should be tough for both sides. McDonagh's playing like a top tier defenseman right now. There's a lot of pride on the club, too. Lots of committed players, playing the system seamlessly, and Vigneault's a very strong coach.

There were large swaths of the game last night where Montreal couldn't even dump the puck in, let alone retrieve it.

I really feel good for you younger fans who have never been through this. This will be my 3rd finals. I was 20 yrs old when they won in '94, now I'm 40.

20 years was a long time comin'.

Same. for you and I, both, it's been exactly a lifetime!

Yes, it was the safest 1-0 lead I have ever seen. I don't think I was nervous at any point.

This is so true! The last five minutes of game seven of the Flyers series were a panic where I was fully expecting a Zelepukin moment, but last night felt like one of those 1-0 soccer leads where something crazy had to happen in order for the game to be tied.

Like an offensive zone Pouliot penalty with two minutes left kinda crazy!

This. The one goal leads against Philly and Pittsburgh had me white knuckling it. I actually felt really confident with this one.

Yes thats the dumbass...I bet he has a nice pathetic article lined up for the Finals

FWIW when he posted that article, he tweeted something like "congrats Rangers fans on going to the finals," because his predictions are usually wrong.

Hahahaha, well an untimely Poo penalty is definitely a nutty thought.

I was more nervous with Pitt too and I really thought they weren't going to do anything either.

Whoa there. He was great but he still isn't as dominant as he can be. He made several eye-opening mistakes. Besides that one dreadful game where the entire team **** the bed, Henrik was head and shoulders better than anyone on this team.

In a much more limited role, Klein was also one of our best players - our best defender per minute played. I'm not the biggest Klein fanboy, I'm not a hater either, I like him for what he is - a solid average defender. But he played out his mind all 6 games. Out of his mind. And Boyle was head and shoulders our most consistent and important player on offense all 6 games. Guy was an absolute horse.

McDonagh was great, but he can be better. Just as I knew Henrik could be better after the Flyers series. He has another level and we'll likely need it for this upcoming series. He made some spectacular plays but he also gave up some key opportunities as well.

Video Request

For those of us with Dish Network, any chance you guys have a video copy of the MSG Post Game Wrap from last night?

The NBCSN was all about what Montreal didn't do and placing blame, and saying the rangers will get killed in the SCF...would be nice to see the other side of the coin.

Montreal only mustered 5 shots on goal in the 3rd period of an elimination game. 18 total... Just not acceptable from their perspective.

I mean... the Rangers didn't allow them to get many chances, period.

18 shots in 3 periods = 6 per period. They shot 5 in the 3rd. Fairly consistent with how they shot in the first 2 periods. They played their best players in the 3rd, which i'm sure enables them to use the excuse of fatigue and such, but in an elimination scenario - adrenaline should help limit fatigue. We just shut them down. Chipped the puck in deep, cut out he neutral zone, counter attacked beautifully. Credit the Rangers.

lol, how bitter are you?

Go read the Habs board and then come back here and crap on your fellow fans some more. :help::laugh:

It's funny. Some Montreal fans post classy things here and I compared them to some here who would not be quite as gracious if situations reversed.

Can't say I'm surprised as to who would make my point for me in spades.

You missed the point, yet again. You complain about whining while whining.

Some Montreal fans were nasty in their board. Some Rangers fans were nasty on their boards. Big deal. But some get enraged about what fans of the other team said elsewhere,. Why it matters to you is odd.

Hahah I was holding my breath a bit that there wouldn't be a Pouliot penalty

But yeah the Rangers just shut the Habs down AND even got offensive chances to keep them on their heels. It was pretty masterful.
