I thought reports were that Nashville was looking to re-sign Saros? Why would they trade him for Pennie’s on the dollar
They wouldn't. There are a few Preds fans that think the possibility of having two high-quality netminders at the same time means we need to rush to trade one immediately, and then a few others that just want to see Trotz raze the club to the ground and join the tank brigade. Otherwise (and in line with what Trotz seems to think), it better be a damn good offer to pry Saros away...this ain't it.

Saros in an Oilers uniform makes them a cup contender instantly.
But what would it take to get Trotz to budge?

My proposition:

To Edmonton:
Saros and fabbro

To Nashville:
Bouchard, 2024 1st round pick, Lavoie

Oilers get one of the best goalies in the league at cost control for two seasons. Plus fabbro to semi replace Bouchard for cup run.

Preds get Bouchard to pair with josi and create maybe the best pair in the league plus two futures for rebuild with lavoie and the late first.

If oilers prefer carrier to fabbro that’s doable.

Thoughts?
An unprotected first?

If Nashville offers Saros for this price, then you take it and run.

Nothing you're giving up is going to ever matter more in a single hockey game than what you're getting.

Crazy how people don’t have any clue what trade values goalies carry. Edmonton isn’t paying that for a goalie with 1 year left on his deal but yeah, please tell me how 30 teams would offer more
Funny how people don't understand that Nashville isn't giving up Saros for parts no matter what " trade values goalies carry ".

Saros is being signed long term in Nashville, if a team wants him it's going to come at a premium, whether other fan bases agree with that or not.

Is there a combination of non-Bouchard players Smashville would consider?

I.e. Saros for Dylan Holloway
Why would Nashville trade their better dman and number 1 goalie who can be top 10 in this league for a more offensive Tyson Barrie?? It doesnt make sense

Bouchard is an outstanding one dimensional offensive dman. Preds have one in Barrie, why would they get another one?
I can say a lot of things about a lot of defensive players. Most metrics don’t match the player. He’s a great option to pair opposite to Josi.

Bouchard is as good as Barrie was in his prime, right now. This version of Barrie isn’t there.

You're getting a Vezina caliber goalie in his prime and a defenseman that's as good or better than Bouchard and you have the best player in the world. Not saying it'd be enough, but at some point you have to give to get.
A guy who’s been a healthy scratch a third of the season and can’t beat out the likes of Barrie, Schenn and Carier, is as good or better then a ppg defender.

Did Saros f*** your mother? What a terrible deal. Do you understand the value of bad defensemen like Evan Bouchard? Under no circumstances is he a member of the best pair in the league. Highly insulting to the rest of us that you think so

I think this is a pretty fair offer. During the offseason when Hellebuyck was available it was widely reported by the insiders that the goalie trade market is soft. If Trotz wants to move on from Saros and give the net to Askarov this is a pretty good offer while teams are desperate, you could replace Lavoie with a better prospect or pick but pretty solid for the Preds, Bouchard is a premium piece and the 1st adds future value.

Please tell me how you expect to find a perennial Vezina caliber goalie signed for just $5 million for 2 playoff runs? Tampa has paid multiple 1st rounders and other high picks to acquire guys like Hagel and Jeannot to play middle-6 wing (a much less critical position than goal) paying a premium for multiple runs at an affordable price. This is not unreasonable at all given the circumstances. Gotta give something good to get something good back.

Trotz doesn’t want to move on from Saros (Askarov is at best a b/u next year). So moving Saros turns the Preds from a bubble team (and with Saros that could go anywhere) into a bottom feeder. There has to be potential for a game breaker, otherwise it doesn’t make any sense.

How is Bouchard a Pennie? This seems like a criminal undervaluing.

What if Saros won’t re-sign?
Saros is highly regarded and considered one of the better goalies in the league. Bouchard at best is an offensive 2nd pairing defenceman with some big defensive issues.

If Saros doesn’t want to re-sign, that offer is likely easily beat

Yeah Evan Bouchard is awful. How’s he even in the nhl? A point per game defenseman should never even have been drafted and for the chance to play in this league. You’re right why would we use him as a centrepiece in a deal for saros? What was I thinking? I’m soooooo stupid lol
Insulting lol

"We have this guy so we don't need more players at that position" is a common sentiment around here, to be sure.

Just curious, what do you think Bouchards offensive production would look like in Nashville?

Imagine a world where this goes through, Wolf becomes Calgary's starter and then we get a goalie fight with two below 6 foot goalies!

As a Kings fan I do not want Edmonton getting Saros even at the cost of bouchard
