There's 7.5m in cap heading to Edmonton and 3.9 heading to Nashville. Even if the value was fair, this wouldn't work.

Literally none of us think this and the majority didn't want Bouchard at that pick, we preffered Dobson. Why even make something like this up.

You think you made a statement here and you did. Just not the one you think you did/
Go look in the Bouchard thread. Someone literally said it. I’m not pulling things out my ass

I don't really think EDM even needs a goalie, their underlings are pretty damn good. They just need their goalies not to be as catastrophic as they were early on in the year.

Why do Oiler fans add Lavoie to a proposal as if he adds value? Lavoie has zero value. In fact, he's adds to the number of contracts to the receiving team which is a negative.
It's even worse, because they didn't. The OP is, shamefully, one of ours.

For the record, Saros ain't moving anytime soon, and even if he was, this wouldn't do it.

I don't understand the obsession from some of our fans of shipping Saros to Edmonton. Yes they have a goalie need, no they don't really have much that will make us better for trading away one of our best players.

I’m very interested to see how the Saros situations unfolds, just so many variables at play.

Why spend the highest draft pick you’ve had in awhile on a goalie prospect when you plan on keeping your star netminder long term? If their plan is to trade Askarov, it’s not going to be easy recovering the type of value the original draft pick had, it wouldn’t be great asset management.

Seems like some mix signals coming from management, who’s actions seem to suggest a re-tool but keeping Saros around basically ensures you stay in no man’s land, fighting for wildcard spots just to be first round fodder while keeping yourself out of the top end of the draft and the type of elite talent you want to add to a re-tooling/rebuilding organization.

Finally is ownership going to want to dish out the 60-70M contract Saros is going to command next year?

Saros value is going to be at its absolute peak this trade deadline, you’ve got teams like NJ, Carolina, Edmonton who could all be vaulted into cup contender status adding a goalie like Saros, and you’re getting him on a very manageable cap hit for two runs, these organizations will pay up.

We’ll see how it plays out but I think the smart move is maximizing value on a guy who’s about to get paid, especially considering the teams in competitive purgatory and you’ve got a high end replacement option that you’ve invested significant draft capital and development into.

I would ask a team like Edmonton for more than I would other teams just because of the situation they are in if I was the GM of NSH.

likely top of their target list and could be the move that pushes them over the top. I would not only ask for too much but I would ask for one extra decent piece just because of the reasons I posted. I would make sure EDM would think two or maybe three times before accepting.

The only way I could see Nashville moving Saros this season is if they're seriously out of the playoff picture by the deadline. He more likely gets moved during the offseason or 2025 deadline if they think Askarov is the answer for the future.

I think Nashville would probably want Skinner, Broberg and some draft picks before they even thought of moving him. There will be serious competition from teams like Toronto, Jersey, Carolina and maybe a few surprise teams to outbid.

I think it goes as follows:
Move-Saros Crowd: "Of course Edmonton has players we could benefit from! They already have McDavid so they can spare Draisaitl!"
Everyone Else: "They're not moving Draisaitl for anything we have."
Move-Saros Crowd: "But but but but but-"
Everyone Else: "Nope."
Move-Saros Crowd: "Okay, fine. But hear me out. We can still salvage this concept even if we're not getting Draisaitl somehow. Here's my latest idea..."

That poster pops into all these types of threads involving the Preds to crap on our lack of high-end prospects, so probably that.
To be fair, the standard likely being compared to in that case is the Blue Jackets, and, well, yeah. There are no Fantillis in the Nashville pipeline. Which of course means the team is doomed because every time Nashville has had success before obviously it's been because of the presence of guys like um wait wait what do you mean there's never been an offensive superstar on the Preds before.

We definitely need another goalie. Skinner is young and that's too many games and too much pressure on him. He needs someone to platoon with. Pickard has been ok but isn't a long term solution.

We probably don't need a Saros level guy but at min we could use another 1B type.

Saros in an Oilers uniform makes them a cup contender instantly.
But what would it take to get Trotz to budge?

My proposition:

To Edmonton:
Saros and fabbro

To Nashville:
Bouchard, 2024 1st round pick, Lavoie

Oilers get one of the best goalies in the league at cost control for two seasons. Plus fabbro to semi replace Bouchard for cup run.

Preds get Bouchard to pair with josi and create maybe the best pair in the league plus two futures for rebuild with lavoie and the late first.

If oilers prefer carrier to fabbro that’s doable.

Thoughts?
Not for Bouchard, no.

Don’t let Oilers see this. Some of them think Bouchard is the best player from that draft. They’ll demand Nashville add +++
No, we know would have to add +++ if Bouchard wasn't involved. We know this but just don't want to get rid of Bouchard. Plus Campbell would have to go back the other way...so there's that.

No. But thanks for whatever it was you were trying to do here.

Far as the OP goes, doesn't work for either team. We'd need to lose Campbell for cap purposes. Preds aren't selling their franchise goalie while sitting in a playoff spot.

I have seen fans of other teams saying they like to eat poo. Does that make it true that all the teams fans like to eat poo?
