Im not expecting him to be a superstar by any means but we had a swede a few years back who had 19 points in 42 games in the same league who also played a few SHL games then he came over & had 47 points in 68 games then 81 the following year. Lantz had 37 in 42.

So if he can come in & be a 60-ish point player that's a major boost to an already strong unit.
thats fair, to be seen, i think its fair to call him a question but you never know.

As are most imports. Some just don't translate. Sting thought Malyavin would be a massive piece for years & he only lasted 1 (mainly due to durability) unfortunately.

Don't know till they get here but still exciting to get a guy that wasn't a sure thing. Especially when ur team who rarely has things to be excited about 😂

This year's roster has some legitimate upside. It'll ultimately lead to a 2nd Round loss as per usual but dammit we'll enjoy it until then lmao

This team is stupid deep. Burke or Sikic on 3rd line w/MacDonell, Filak. Martone should be an impact rookie but might be on line 4 with Wainwright who showed very well as a rookie.

Voit-Lantz-Dann
Vilmanis-Namestnikov-Sikic
Burke-MacDonell-Filak
Martone-Wainwright-

McIntyre, Lalkin, Vogelsberg, Harper, Doherty, Degelas all fighting for one spot.
What do you say we try the right shot of Martone with Burke (his cousin) and Angus on the 3rd line?

Not a bad idea! Haha. They'll have a ton of options for lines. Should be fun to see what they come up with & what works the best.

west will be competitive. if they were in the east they may be a conference final team, in the west owen sound and flint are the top two to start.

Always is unfortunately haha. Those 2 (and Kitchener) all look very good. Will say I think Sarnia's defence is quite a bit better than both OSs & FLTs (unless Flint keeps 2OA D but that would worsen their FS) then in net Gaudreau is substantially better than their net minders. especially Flint who still doesn't know who their #1 is.

But I concede they both have stellar F units. Both are gonna score a crap ton of goals. Look forward to when those teams come to town. Should be great games & they always seem to get chippy vs those two in particular.

We don't need to be reminded how severely under appreciated this franchise is amongst the league. We know they won't ever get the respect of being picked as a contender amongst other fans. We got two imports to sign, one of them we thought we had no chance on...It's a good day for us...let us shine dude. lmao.

We could go 68-0 & if ppl picked us to lose round 1 id probably still be like I see the reasoning lmaoo. I was talking to someone I go to the games with about how truly unbelievable it is their lack of playoff success. Legitimately unmatched. lol.

If they cant get it done this year (by that I mean just getting to the 3rd round for once) with such a strong roster backed by maybe the leagues best goalie its probably time to just relocate. im half joking 😂

I'm in another city now, so keeping the interest alive has become a lot harder. These signings today make it a bit easier to want to follow along and get to some live games, but if they can't push past the 2nd round this year, while they still have Benny and CO, then I can easily see myself and others losing most of what's left, as far as the love for this franchise goes. They have to go all in this year. I just don't see another choice.

If we're going 68-0, love the enthusiasm StingUpdates, can we maybe workshop some ideas to get some life into the crowd at the hive? I cheer enthusiastically on ever Sting goal, save, hit, fight and my fellow fans quietly look at me like I'm embarrassing the fan base. You shouldn't qualify for energy zone seats if you don't cheer, really grinds my gears.

...and how do we not refer to the ice crew as 'The Worker Bees" ? Seems appropriate.

the latvin import could and should be a stud, no question, the other guy, well see, 19 year olds generally dont play u20 if they are studs in sweden, just how it is. if i thought you guys were the best team in the league, id say so, i think you could be the best in the east, but you play in the west. its not like flint or owen sound are always thought to be the top of the list, this year they seem to be. dont be so grouchy, its just a message board :)

goalies and d for sure, sarnia has the edge on both. both need to add d.

the depth owen sound has up front may be the best in the ohl, they could role out guindon, petrovski and lawrence down the middle. barlow had 30 goals, even their 3rd round pick who probably is their 11th forward or something almost had as many points as mcdonell (angus is better dont get me wrong, just an example).

if ottmann is back flint is like owen sound, tons of forward depth, they could have giroux and kressler could be on their third line, hay on their 4th line, thats impressive. goalie is hit or miss but most goalies are not good until they are 19 anyways, so well see.

Yah agreed. OS is probably my favorite if they can add 2 Dmen. Like their roster & do think somewhat highly of Chenard.

Othmann damn well might score 60 if he stays healthy. Lombardi might be my favorite non sting player in the O.

Yah definitely reasonable. I lost some of the passion after the yr off but got back into it down the stretch despite their horrendous play.

Juiced up now for the season to start. Loving how the roster looks. And most definitely. It 100% is an all-in year. U can't waste a goalie of Ben's caliber. We know how rare it is to find truly elite goalies lol. Have had like 2or3 in 29 years.

if they lose othmann then its a different convo, not sure how realistic it is that hes in the nhl next year.

I can't see it with his skating still not being all that great. Rangers are pretty deep too. Gallant isn't the best with rookies either.

Seca clearly pretty happy with the signings! Views both as upgrades to the top-6. Says both possess elite talent just in different ways (Vilmanis scoring, Lantz playmaking)

Thinks it'll be an incredibly competitive camp with how many guys they have.

Still feeling like a big trade is coming before the season. Seca needs to make room for imports upfront and 2 rookies. Who goes? Gotta be a forward I think.

One of the OA Fs for sure. More than likely Hill unless he takes a big jump. Hoping for something like a 4th but wouldn't be surprised if he just gets a 5th or 6th.

Probably let the rest fight it out then if there's interest deal the guys who don't crack the starting 12.

I imagine Lalkin has the biggest leash considering he was a 2nd Round pick. But if he shows no improvement he's gone. Same can be said for McIntyre tho he's probably the guy out the crop we'd like to work out the most cause of the size, physicality.

Vogelsberg might stay just as a 13th F. Local kid, good energy player but same could be said for Harper. Doherty likely starts elsewhere & gets some games throughout the year. Degelas would be my sleeper to make it if not back to Legionnaires.

honestly, if you are cutting a kid you took in the 2nd the year after you took him, that has to be looked at like a poor pick, no?
