I wouldn’t trade for him because it hasn’t worked out with Moldenhauer yet so why try it again? Just not sure why he would report to sarnia and not niagara.
I get that reasoning but you do have to remember that Niagara is an absolute overhaul of their ownership, management, and coaching. It sounds like that is the reason why he doesn't want to go to Niagara. Sarnia is a much more stable situation than Niagara. That's why he might report to Sarnia and not Niagara.

Ya but it’s not like we have a successful organization with development of prospects or winning lol. Might be better off in the states.

I wouldn't agree about not having success developing prospects. Since 2010, the Sting have developed 8 first round picks in the NHL draft.

I mean some success I guess. But it also helps when you get the first overall in a number of years and 2nd chl Import pick which lead to those guys. Yakupov, galchenyuk, stamkos, and chychrun were pretty hard to screw up lol.

I would not trade for Dickinson. Not with where they are at. This is a win now year so throwing 4-5-6 picks at a rookie doesn't help that & they just don't have the picks to throw away.

You do that more & we literally have nothing left.

He would likely report to Sarnia, I just don't think it makes any sense with your current roster construction. By the time Dickinson is a really good player, Sarnia will be rebuilding after Gaudreau/Voit/Dann/Namestnikov are gone

Fair enough. A question for both of you if the Sting never made the Moldenhauer trade, do you think a Dickinson trade would make sense then? (If they never made the trade they would have two more 2nds, three more 3rds, one more 4th, one more 5th, and one more 15th to trade)

I'd still say no because what Gens said. Sarnia needs to be adding 18-19 year olds this year. While a D for the next 3-4 years of Dickinson, Daviault, Campbell, hopefully Green &/or Omeri would be really fun & promising it wouldn't help us win this season which is the ultimate goal.

Tho I don't think Sarnia's roster will be all that bad in 2023-2024 (still returning up to 10 Fs along with Daviault, Mast/Romeo, MacDonald on D) it'll probably be a regroup yr as the D will have potentially 3 rookies & Gaudreau will be gone & we have no sure fire youngster in net.

Great start to the U17 camp for Martone! Skating looks even better than it did at rookie camp. Loved his game. Hard to get off the puck, great vision, soft hands & his shot is lethal. Could've had 4or5. He was pretty physical too which you love to see.

Another solid game from Martone in their 2nd game of the day. Scored a nice goal fishing the puck out of some skates then ripping it past the goalie. Loving what im seeing. He's everywhere on both sides of the puck. Letang is gonna love his forechecking ability. He really uses his reach/stick to disrupt outlet passes & cause turnovers.

He'll love his release, shot more tho. Absolutely lethal. Leads the camp in points with 5 in 2 games.

Martone finishes with another strong showing. 7 points in 4 games which was 2nd in the tournament. Was 1st the whole way but his teammate had 2G/2A today to edge him out.

I come away very impressed. Hard not to envision him being a very elite player in this league. Size, shot, passing, compete, IQ. Put it all on display & his skating has already come a ways so as he gets stronger that will only improve more.

Congrats to Mast! Jamie Langenbrunner (Bruins director of player development) said Mast "popped this week" at camp & that he's really matured into his body & that it's been a big change since last years camp. Looks way smoother, more confident.

He's a guy that's got a lot of tools & hopefully this means he's pieced them together. Could be a force on the backend. Does suck tho as it probably means this will be his last year since he signed. Only proves further this has to he an all-in season. Voit, Mast, Gaudreau, Ritchie, Burke, Dillingham/Hill all in their final years.

Awesome to hear! Looking forward to seeing his improvements at training camp with the Sting in the fall

Voit’s skill is much better than Moldenhauer’s, if I was moldenhauer I would be wanting to play with him especially knowing voits team will be pretty good. Moldenhauer looks like a smaller Ryan Kesler with the way he skates.

Another scrimmage for Voit today & everybody is praising him. Saw an interview where he said he put a lot of work into his shot.

I think he's gonna make a real push for 100 points if not more. Had 80 on a team that had no depth scoring & a mediocre PP. If both of those improve he'll get more let alone just his own improvements.

My excitement is definitely starting to grow after watching Martone dominate U17 camp, Mast's apparent big jump, Namestnikov's good showing in Vancouver & now Voit's dominance at Leafs camp + Gaudreau I guess looked fantastic in SJS.

MacDonell, Daviault get underway today as well at U18 camp. See how they look. Hate getting this optimistic about Sting teams but this one is shaping up to be real good.

U18 scrimmages for Canada finished up today. Daviault had a goal and an assist in the two scrimmages while MacDonell picked up a goal in the two scrimmages. These scrimmages were to determine the Hlinka Gretzky Cup team. That team should be announced soon as the tournament starts next Sunday. We'll see if Daviault or MacDonell makes the cut.

Not sure either will. Team is really stacked. Thought Daviault had some good moments in the two games but also was trying to do too much & it got him in trouble at times. Definitely looks a bit quicker & his shot was a laser on his goal so looks like he worked on that a bit.

MacDonell was solid. Skating looks fantastic. Took a lot of face-offs & did it well. Especially on the PK. As we've talked about before he'll never be the most skilled guy but the kid is relentless. Looks a touch bigger too I thought.

There’s a LOT of moves left to be made, signings to come and injuries to avoid but I could easily see the Sting fighting for a top 3 position in the West next year and with Gaudreau in net come playoffs I think there’s definetly reason to be optimistic.
