Didn’t see a wink of the game last night and it appears I should be thankful for that lol. Typical Sarnia Sting hockey…sold out crowd and start off going down 5-0 LMFAO 🤣 I honestly can’t even imagine how disappointed you all must have felt in the arena.

Saw the highlights of the goals. Thought Surzycia should have had 2 of those 5 no doubt. He and Grover both played very deep in the net for a few goals each. Can’t imagine it was very fun for Grover to have to make his first appearance of the year that way, relieving Surzycia. Not sure who goes today but they will need to be on their game. London is clearly buzzing right now.

Also, what the hell is this all about? Was this warranted?

Mailloux was acting like a moron all night, the knights player cross checked Martone into the goalie and Mailloux freaks on him. Probably only went after him like that because he’s a young 16 year old lol. Also did anyone see that ridiculous blindsiding penalty Hoover got called for? Clean hot to the chest in my opinion. If the refs keep making these brutal calls they should just take hitting out of the game. Everytime there’s a big hit it’s a penalty whether it’s clean or dirty, so dumb.

Yeah, refs didn’t manage the game as well as they could have. Pretty big overreaction by mailloux in the heat of the moment, I mean buddy…it’s 7-4, you play them tomorrow, take a number if you’re that pissed. Probably regrets it… kids. Martone wasn’t any worse for wear.
Hoover made a beautiful hit, shoulder to the logo, took him off the puck as bodychecks were intended to do. Was it a “blindside” because the guy was looking at the puck coming across? Unfortunate call, but any big hit seems to be a penalty now.
Hutchison favored Sarnia last night, hadn’t seen that before. I was waiting for the refs to even up the calls in the 3rd but it didn’t happen.

Respectfully- points/stat lines don’t tell the whole story. As seen from the avatar, I love the way Angus plays, big fan. He’s sandpaper, kills penalties, isn’t afraid of corners (or anything else), takes the abuse net front on PP, takes hits to make plays, etc. Has he been clutch around the net, not so much, he’s the first to admit that. Come playoff time, I’d like to revisit this. Letang loves him, so do a lot of other teams GM’s.
Max is doing well in Guelph and that’s great, hoped he would have used the opportunity on the first line in Sarnia to produce like that. That’s hockey, I hope it all comes together tonight and they return the favor in London, and get some clutch saves.
forsure... I just don't like first round picks being the sandpaper/grinder type player. You can get those guys later. OHL will always be a skill/points/stats league.

So technically max was the last good 1st round pick then lol. The coaches on this team are clearly brutal. If a guy can leave and go to another team and light it up it’s not the player it’s the teams playing system and coaches that aren’t allowing the player to thrive. Londons players aren’t even very skilled this year. They just played a way more structured and aggressive game. They played as a 5 man unit. Every guy on their team knows his role and plays very simple hockey and they shut it down defensively then they work very hard on the forecheck/backcheck to cause turnovers and they capitalize. Didn’t help that Suryzcia let in about 3 VERY stoppable pucks. Sarnias players don’t seem to be on the same page as one another or know their roles and they try to win by skill when most goals you need to outwork the opponent to score.
lol tbh I was very surprised max played as bad as he did in Sarnia this year... maybe there was more to the story. I do agree, Sarnia has terrible coaching. Haley and Staubitz bring 0 coaching experience to the table... I dont mean to chirp them, they played in the NHL, but as fringe fighters with no skill. Also I didn't get the hype around Letang... he had 1 year experience before coming to Sarnia. Not sure why he is always coaching for Team Canada. This team just gives off bad vibes.

Ya mad sometimes players just click with certain players, max had plenty of time both this year and last season with the 1st and 2nd line and powerplay. He might of just went to Guelph and had instant chemistry with the players there. Who knows it happens all the time in the NHL too.

Pretty good period for us. Especially the final 7-8 minutes. Unfortunate post at the end. Would've been big to be tied. Kyrou was our best player by a mile. He's everywhere. Next goal is gonna be a big one.

All over them in the 2nd, somehow don't tie it up & Voit takes a bad Ozone penalty & it's 2-0. frustrating. and the PP after just one game of looking good looks like absolute sh*t again.

This team looks like complete shit.

Lmao, there’s a little reverse trickery for ya as we score 🤡
I don't agree. We've been the better team today. Have had a ton of good looks. Brochu been really solid. the PP though.. definitely looks like shit haha.

annnnd that goal is an absolute backbreaker.

Well there’s your back breaker right there. Classic.
yep. Kyrou who had been brilliant today completely lost his man. Surzcyia really deep in his net too though not his fault. Frustrating afternoon. PP has no showed & Brochu has been excellent. we also get absolutely nothing from our bottom-6. Vilmanis will help a lot to space things out better, but it's a weakness no doubt. Wainwright, MacDonell, Way, Doucette, Martone have scored what maybe 3 goals in the last 10 games combined?

And despite all that Sarnia has been the better team?

I turned the game on the second half of that 2nd period. Doesn’t look much different than last night. Sarnia running around with no direction, London completely in sync. London also WAYYYY more hungry for loose pucks. Those two things are the difference between these two teams.

Not by a lot but IMO they've generated quite a bit more. Brochu has made a number of great saves + a few posts. Surzcyia has not been bad by any means, but has only made 3or4 nice saves at most. PPs have helped for that. Few soft calls (same thing as last night lol)

That first part & goaltending been the two biggest differences in these two games. Hunter has them completely & utterly in sync. it's impressive. not many giveaways, wasted possessions. Always with each other it feels like. offensively & defensively.

at times we lose our structure & that's when they've been converting. Is a bit more understandable with 2 guys who have been out a month+ just returning + Kyrou just arriving, but a lot goes to the coaching. This is Hunter's best work in awhile. should be run away coach of the yr as of today.

what a dreadful giveaway & what a dreadful goal for Surzcyia. Sarnia had been all over them too. That'll be game. what a tilt with Martone/Leanord. Love the kids spirit, heart.

Outside of Voit and Sasha, Sarnia has zero forwards who create offence ... London goalie making the saves .... Sarnia's isn't ... been the story the entire year..... If im Sarnia's management im very nervous... this team aint it.
they miss Sandis a ton & I feel putting all 3 together limits Burke quite a bit. 36&96 dominate the puck so he doesn't get it enough. But I agree & it's why I (and others) have said another good F is more of a need. Sikic, Filak, MacDonell, Wainwright, Way, Doucette aren't gonna blow down the wing, make somebody miss & snipe one or set someone up backdoor.

while I like way for his 2way play, he does nothing for offence & putting MacDonell, Martone with him really doesn't help them in anyway. They need passers, facilitators to play with.

That was Brochu's own Dman who knocked his helmet off lol. he comes so far out of the crease its not hard to imagine why guys bump into him so often.

what a gutless, cheap hit by Edward. Burke never had it & he goes high. garbage.

I'm not gonna lose my cool over 2 games out of a break. I thought they played a solid road game today, but Brochu was excellent & our PP let some massive opportunities go to waste. Give credit to LDN who genuinely is the best team I've seen us play this year & that is honestly not something I thought I was gonna say this season.

Haven't seen any team show that much structure & cohesion all season. very impressive so props to them. If they add some impactful Fs this next week.. watch out.

we have some guys that need to wake up a bit & we need to do different lines so all our top-end talent isn't on one line. makes it to easy to game plan for. I believe in this group, but if Seca doesn't add a F he'll be making a giant mistake.

Anyways, happy new years

Has your coaching been as bad all year as they were tonight? Your team was down 3 with a power play with 6 minutes left and they left the goalie in? Ok I’ll give them that one, still time left and don’t want to give up an empty netter, but then with 2 1/2 minutes left you get a major power play and the goalie stays in until the 1:00 mark? Why bother at that point? Did they expect 3 goals in 60 seconds? Or do they think it’s better to score 1 or 2 and lose close games?

Our HC is at the WJCs. So our assistants took over. I've never been a fan of Staubitz who's the acting HC till Letang returns.

Did the same thing yesterday with the major powerplay down 2. No clue what he's thinking.
