Rumor: Sabres finalizing another trade (not Byram)

A discussable deal, if you remove the #8.
So the 4th overall, UPL and Mcleod for Helly? That at least 3 1sts in value. When was the last time (or any time) a goalie came close to this? Helly is great but he's mid 30s coming off a poor year. He has alot of value for sure but I can't see anything close to this.....

How's the medical staff in Buffalo?

Demko, Petey and Hronek all in one fell swoop.

Get Demko healthy, get Petey engaged and get Hronek.....ice time?....and watch the wins roll in.

I wouldn't bother with people over Helle's value. They act like he is prime Hasek.

I sure hope that BUF doesn't do something foolish with that pick, like trade for a player in their 30's with a fat contract. They had a great year last year. Best that they don't try to rush the process, and instead make a pick that will ensure their improvement going forward. They will have a shot at a really good D (Reid, Carels)or C prospect(Malhotra), at a minimum.

When was the last time a top 2 goalie in the entire sport was available?

Norris + UPL + 45th + 4th OR Helenius OR "Östlund + 20th"

is a fair package that simultaneously ensures / improves your odds at the following:

a) you have the best goalie tandem in the Atlantic next year,
b) Florida doesn't have the best goalie tandem in the Atlantic next year,

c) you don't have to gamble on whether Norris stays healthy,
d) you open up enough cap space to keep Tuch, if necessary, and
e) you massively improve your goaltending without subtracting anyone from your actual core,
f) you get to retain at least one top C prospect no matter what for the future, and

g) you don't waste a year of Tage and Dahlin's primes by ending up with the 24-25 version of UPL.

I don't need to explain the deal from the Jets' perspective in too much detail; it's a re-tooling move, we are significantly worse for it next year, and we take on a f***ton of risk with Norris and UPL - one has a concerning injury history, and the other hasn't proven himself to be a reliable starter yet. We give up by far the best piece in the deal, and are compensated accordingly.

(If it's McLeod instead of Norris, remove pick #45 - that, however, probably doesn't leave enough cap space for Tuch, so that's why I'd stick to Norris in a deal. Worse for the Jets, but more sensible overall.)

I think they either keep the pick or trade it for a high impact player like a Larkin or Robertson that will give them many years of High quality/elite play. They have a long runway with their core and prospect pipeline. They really don't NEED to keep this pick, unless the value in a trade just isn't there.

I'm with ya tho, i defintely hope they don't waste it, tho as a Blues fan with a colton parayko available, I hope they do hahaha

It's not that Hellebuyck isn't incredible...

... It's that you're getting maybe 3 good years out of him for all that.

Yeah there is zero chance of this happening.

Someone put something in the coffee?

4oa and the rights to tuch for knies?
I love Knies and lLeafs would have 1OA and 4OA and thats sick but I think Buffalo makes the pick

Leafs get Reid and McKenna would be crazy but Buffalo makes the pick. I don't think its on the table to be honest.

I love(d) Parayko as a player, but trading the 4th for him would crazy.

Im not moving 4oa for anything less than a real deal 1c. knies is not that.
A 4th, Quinn, and maybe another prospect(not Helenius)would be a nice offer for Larkin, but I don't think Larkin wants to go to BUF.
