I think he's among the top PF's.Where would Knies rank among wingers? Top 15? Top 20? Lower even?
He's not the scorer or driver as a lot of other wingers

True. I won't dispute that. I think any team would love to have him, and he's a top 6 LW on the vast majority of teams. But I don't think it's possible the Leafs said no to a trade involving a top 5 pick for himI think he's among the top PF's.

I agree once againTrue. I won't dispute that. I think any team would love to have him, and he's a top 6 LW on the vast majority of teams. But I don't think it's possible the Leafs said no to a trade involving a top 5 pick for him
As a Sabres fan I would do it. Instantly makes Buffalo better and St. Louis gets a load of prospects but I hear yeah I don't think it happens.
That's part of my argument. Buffalo shouldn't be picking 4 and 20 anytime soon, so make the picks now.Why would you want to be in that range again? Means you are bad lol. That rookie isn't helping this year and we could miss the playoffs if we don't go out and get two quality players.
I think Leafs fans wanted 4 OA plus McDavidTrue. I won't dispute that. I think any team would love to have him, and he's a top 6 LW on the vast majority of teams. But I don't think it's possible the Leafs said no to a trade involving a top 5 pick for him
Realistically, Leafs probably would have gotten a package similar to what Chicago got for Hagel. Knies is probably a little better/more established, but Hagel was also making something like $1.5 mil at that time. Two firsts, a second, and two prospects seems legit to me. Maybe a little more because this market is so cracked out, but that would probably be near the basic framework.I think Leafs fans wanted 4 OA plus McDavid
You are seriously out to lunch man…. Just give it a rest helly will never return the 4th pick and you want the Sabre to add on top of itWhen was the last time a top 2 goalie in the entire sport was available?
Norris + UPL + 45th + 4th OR Helenius OR "Östlund + 20th"
is a fair package that simultaneously ensures / improves your odds at the following:
a) you have the best goalie tandem in the Atlantic next year,
b) Florida doesn't have the best goalie tandem in the Atlantic next year,
c) you don't have to gamble on whether Norris stays healthy,
d) you open up enough cap space to keep Tuch, if necessary, and
e) you massively improve your goaltending without subtracting anyone from your actual core,
f) you get to retain at least one top C prospect no matter what for the future, and
g) you don't waste a year of Tage and Dahlin's primes by ending up with the 24-25 version of UPL.
I don't need to explain the deal from the Jets' perspective in too much detail; it's a re-tooling move, we are significantly worse for it next year, and we take on a f***ton of risk with Norris and UPL - one has a concerning injury history, and the other hasn't proven himself to be a reliable starter yet. We give up by far the best piece in the deal, and are compensated accordingly.
(If it's McLeod instead of Norris, remove pick #45 - that, however, probably doesn't leave enough cap space for Tuch, so that's why I'd stick to Norris in a deal. Worse for the Jets, but more sensible overall.)

Trade the 4th and 20th for 2nd and 27thI hope Buffalo makes their picks at 4 and 20. They'd need a serious regression and maybe some lottery luck to pick as high as 4 again. 20 is a wild card pick. I'd bet they won't be in that range again for a bit.
Why? If Buffalo stays at 4, they are getting one of Stenberg, Malhotra, Bjorck, or Reid. I don't think having the choice is worth trading back.Trade the 4th and 20th for 2nd and 27th
No. That's virtually nothingTrade the 4th and 20th for 2nd and 27th
No. That's virtually nothing
That's the assumption your making.Chicago must not have believed that Knies was worth the 4th pick
Avs are getting rid of Nuke to get some money not take on more. Avs biggest need at this point is a top 4 LHD and Tuch is a luxury they cant/shouldnt chase.I read that Nichushkin is available.
Could it be a Tuch sign and trade where Nichushkin is coming back instead of a pick?
Moving Nichushkin could give Colorado enough cap space to sign Tuch…depending on what he costs….
For Buffalo, it’s better than losing Tuch for nothing and if Nichushkin stays healthy he could do well in Buffalo I think…
That would have been poor thinking on the part of your FOThat's the assumption your making.
My counter is leafs wanted more than 4th OA + Crevier + 45th OA for Knies.
Leafs get to keep their player, Hawks got the guy they targeted at a price they were comfortable paying at the end of the day
Not that I want to but you could even trade back 2 spots pick up a player or picks and still get one of Malholtra, Bjorck or Reid so it doesn't make sense to trade up you are right. Why? If Buffalo stays at 4, they are getting one of Stenberg, Malhotra, Bjorck, or Reid. I don't think having the choice is worth trading back.
I said no point in trading up but this I would do. Its basically a free 2 spots to move up.SJ #2 for #4 and 8-year extended Tuch
Barf. Easy pass. When was the last time a top 2 goalie in the entire sport was available?

EwwwWinnipeg is very reasonable. Hellebuyck for 4th overall + (insert goalie with pulse). If you can turn Byram into Hellebuyck, you're a damn magician. Let's make a deal!
