The thing I like about Drury's moves is they send a clear message to Kakko, LaFreniere and Kravtsov that they are expected to be contributors. Shipping out a top six player and only bringing in players to solidify the bottom of the lineup let's everyone know that those players are going to have to put up numbers now. Panarin and Zibanejad, if they want to continue to have success, are going to have to figure out how to do so with one or more of those players on the ice with them at all times.

I am shocked by all the hate. He is signed for 1 year, and we have no cap concerns this year. He is a far better player then Howden. And we only gave up a 3rd.

Even if you think he is bad at hockey and don't believe that he will deter anyone, there are many other important things that he brings.

How many 4th liners in this league can actually benefit their teammates while playing on a completely different line? At the minimum, Reaves is a beloved teammate who can change the momentum of a game, and give these kids some confidence that someone has their back. Maybe no one can stop a Tom Wilson from doing Tom Wilson things. But maybe Tom will be looking over his shoulder more, instead of looking for targets. Maybe he is focused on getting Reaves, instead of Panarin. Maybe guys like Strome wouldn't have to look up and down our bench and decide that he is the guy to step up.

There is a psychological benefit to every player on this team by having Reaves on this roster. And seriously, who are you going to replace him with on the 4th line that could bring more value than that?

There is a side of our fanbase who have a reflexive almost knee jerk reaction to players who bring the physical dimension.

I think they think these players bring little if anything else.

It's a bias.

Sometimes it's right. Sometimes it's wrong.

The power play will be interesting. It's going to be the same personnel. Gallant cannot deploy what Quinn did, with a 4-righty, veteran-heavy setup.

If I'm the Rangers and Reeves I try to get Wilson to drop the gloves during warmups. That will set a tone for the game and season. If they both get thrown out before the game the Rangers win. If they both get suspended, the Rangers win. The positive for the Rangers is the Rangers can always play without Reeves. The Caps lose a 20 goal player. Take a page out of the Flyers vs the Habs (decades ago). Go get him before the puck drops.
I'm aware some of our younger fans will get upset at my post but what Wilson did last season should be addressed and it will also send a warning shot to Martin, Clutterbuck, and Mayfield.

I think it was Boogard or another heavyweight who spoke about the emotional toll it took just knowing you were going to have to fight a guy the next day/game.

Whether or not it significantly alters the way he plays, unless he's a true psychopath, there is no way Wilson is going to be looking forward to a bare-knuckle fight with Reeves this year (or Tinordi). And he deserves that for the clown show he made of the Panarin/Buch situation.

A 3rd round pick - EXTREMELY unlikely to amount to anything - to watch Wilson get mauled when he plays the Rangers this year - is worth it to me.

And it's a one year deal.

Someone high up in the Rangers called out the Department of player safety and it's head by name in a letter for all to read, was fined 1/4 million for it.

We already know game management by the officials is a real thing.

And we know the department of player safety does whatever it wants and ignores whatever it wants.

We have seen time and again how both the officials and the league treats different players differently.

I am not so sure the Rangers are going to get any benefit of the doubt here regarding anything they do while they seek justice, or what some might call revenge.

He is the biggest piece of shit in the league. Rag dolling bread has led to this.

buh-bye Tommy

Buch jumping Mantha was the highlight for me.

I hope RR contributes to this team making the playoffs, that is #1 for me.

Buch did not jump Mantha…

He got punked multiple times and laughed at when he wouldn’t defend himself. Mantha tried multiple times to go with him.

He then resorted to cross checking him in the face. Was not a good look .. at all.

RR is the chaperone/camp counselor to the kids for the foreseeable future. When Chytil and KK want to play ping pong, RR gives them the ball out of his secured duffle bag. When Laf takes a dump, RR will be outside handing him a roll under the door.

This is a good move
You can’t let Wilson and Martin run this team out of the building
Make them think twice before they try to do that again.
Could help the skilled players to have more of a chance to use them without fear of getting killed.
1 cup in 80 years, maybe these moves will help end that drought.
Last 2 champs were extremely tough to play against. They could play any style you wanted. Think about that.

Hard for the NHL to call it revenge when they did not see Wilson doing anything enough to even warrant a 1 game suspension. Revenge for what?
