It’s getting kind of laughable at this point. It’s just like the team is getting ready for WWE more so than the NHL.

who was laughing during the Isles, Caps and Bruins games?

All the Caps heavyweights for that opening line fight were on the bench and the Rangers still arguably lost all three including to Carl Hagelin.

God damn forget Wilson. The only folks obsessed with him are the ones saying 'Rent Free Rent Free hahahah'.

We were constantly shut down when opposition had the horses to focus on D and finishing checks and wasn't lazy. This off season's moves allow us to have a couple of lines to go tit for tat at that type of game. No defensive blackholes on the bottom 6 with heavy hitters and grit and some guys who can pot a few sounds nice, and should allow the top 6 to be confident and do their skill thing. Kakko definitely, and hopefully Laf and VK should be able to play the grinding cycle game this year too. CK needs to buckle down and play that game effectively too to open up room for Mika and crew.

yeah, and they never played Carolina, a more physical Lightning team, an off and on physical Panthers team and nobody out West.

This figure skating crew could put on quite a show and get blown off their game if the opponent turned up the grind.
Canes swept the rangers almost a year ago and what did Gorton do about it then? I don't know if we're going overboard but we needed to do something.

This is true. Let’s see other teams try to shut us down now with Reaves on the team.

How much more skill does this team need? We have the Norris Trophy winner, a Hart finalist that could have been one this season had he not missed time due to a stupid coach from Russia, a player with the highest goals per game in 2019-20 and went scorched earth at times this season after recovering from COVID, the #1 overall pick in the last three drafts combined and a #2 overall pick, and lastly one of the best offensive defenders outside of the NHL coming over.

That doesn't even bring up guys like Kreider, Chytil, Miller, Kravtsov, and Strome. Trouba isn't some guy devoid of talent either. Barron isn't just grit and toughness and he's got a great shot to be on the opening night roster.

We've got plenty of skill on the roster. We added a few guys that will bang with other the team's defense and make life a little tougher on forwards for the other team. On top of that, these are guys that have come from winning teams. They may not have been the biggest part of them, but don't tell me Goodrow isn't someone pivotal to Tampa's success, or that Blais wasn't a piece that was helpful for the Blues to win a cup, and Reaves being part of a 4th line that set a tone for an expansion Vegas team.

Instead of having Howden, Hajek, DiGuiseppe, Jack Johnson, Bitetto, and Lemieux play a chunk of games, there are guys that can actually do things that were added.

Geez yeah. That’s true. They had to find non-fighters to fight. I know there were a ton of injuries. But that was truly sad. People were saying ‘they answered the bell’. But when nothing happened during the previous game, they were buried. The whole team should have stormed off the bench as soon as Wilson started yanking Panarin by the hair. Or, at the very least, done something consequential later in the game. Taking 24 hours to think it over and then getting Colin Blackwell and friends to synchro-shove the Caps energy line…was pretty insulting.

Buch jumping Mantha was the highlight for me.

I hope RR contributes to this team making the playoffs, that is #1 for me.
Buch and Smith were the only guys to legit show a pulse. And they’re gone. That’s a bit of a head scratcher. Especially Smith.

Stop - the 2nd half of the season those teams turned up the grit. The Rangers could barley function when the opponents played the boards hard. That’s exactly why these moves are being made.
I too can just make things up

Good to know that Boston and Washington just didn't try when we won but did when we lost lol. sounding like Jack Edwards right now.

Never understood that. I know the dead money was an issue but left basically a young Lindgren and Trouba as the toughness, especially when Lemiuex was traded. Com’on, look how many 22 yr and under finesse kids there are.

Lol. I'm a dummy. I forgot to reference that Darren Pang was talking about Sammy Blais. That said, I agree with your Ryan Reaves assertion as well. Bet Panger would too.

Panger also questioned Blais commitment to conditioning. Might be a good thing for us if he can level up there. Question is, how to motivate him to get to peak fitness?

you’re right, the Rangers had plenty of grit and played the boards so hard. Those bottom lines of Howden and company pushed those Bruins around and demoralized the Capitals. None of these moves were necessary and should have ever happened. You’re sounding like Evan Roberts

Were there better offers out there for Buch? Genuinely curious

Better being a relative term. There was one offer I was more intrigued by ad I felt had better overall value.

To be clear, I like Blais. Just not as the centerpiece of a return for Buch. Based on other discussions that were out there, I think we could've gotten Blais and more than a second round pick.

However, and this is key, the Rangers value Blais more than I do. They see a guy who has a chance to really cement himself as a middle six swing man --- playing anywhere and arguably at either wing. So in their eyes the value of the return is there.

I truly hope they're right.

I hate hate hate this GM. So it probably will work. This is such an emotional overreach by James Dolan. Also, I'm still fuming over the Buchnevich fiasco. but it's whatever.
The offensive improvement by Kakko, Laffy and Kravstov will fill the void Buch left, no worries.

The playoffs are a war of attrition. If you don't have a physical forecheck, the opposition chips away at your defensemen and you aren't making them out anything in the pot. You saw the Isles take down the Bruins. It was because the defense was too beat up to continue. To ignore this and pretend the games are played on paper is a dereliction of duty as a GM.

He's gonna be with Panarin or Lafreniere. I like that energy and chaos with elite level playmakers

I agree. Look at those back to back games against the islander that we had down the stretch. The Islanders destroyed us. Those game were not even close. Those games came as close to playoff feel as we had all season and we showed our true colors. Look also how we performed in the bubble against Carolina. An absolute no show.

HORRIBLE move. Why give up a 3rd rounder in A MASSIVELY DEEP draft like 2022 when you're likely in all honesty shitting away a GOLDEN chance to snag a draft-day plummeter like Gunt Glergenson who has a very real (0.003%) chance of anchoring our 3rd pair for years to come? Fire Drury.
