Mr. statwatcher, u got ur numbers wrong, lol. Boucher doubled biggs' numbers as 17 year old. Small sample size tho. Also, watch them play. Diff players. Biggs was big lumbering PF. Boucher is a quick, shifty, responsible bruising forward. Much softer hands.

if he’s so good why doesn’t he play good?

Boucher's better than his 2 points in 12 games would indicate but it's obvious his offensive upside is limited and nowhere near the traditional forward selected in the top 10.

Still sticking with my Raffi Torres comparison.

He’s 19 playing NCAA at a top school after basically missing his the entire year last year. Points arent what’s important here. It’s the process of what he’s doing and how he’s doing it despite the points.

What were boldys stats his first year at BC? What were Brady Tkachuks? Did either of them miss their 18 year? No?

why don’t we stay a little more patient on this kid….. before pretending like we know for absolute fact he’s a bust…..

Boldy's stats were low in part because he was playing out of position at center when he's a tailor-made winger. He also had a history of excellent production in previous development years and a skillset that clearly suggested top 6 potential.

If Boucher had any kind of track record as a significant scorer at lower levels I'd be willing to give him a lot of slack about failing to produce early, especially given the injuries he suffered last year, but he's always been a complimentary offensive guy with a bottom 6 skillset.

Too early to say he'll bust and not make the NHL, not too early to say it's looking like a very disappointing pick at 10th OVR.

If you get Raffi Torres with 10OA, that’s not too bad. Raffi Torres was a second line forward at his best. Boucher could also be better than that. He could be Tom Wilson. He could be worse. We’ll see. Too many people trying to jump to declare themselves right after 12 games.

nope he has not looked very good. I haven’t really seen any projectable skills other than him trying to be physical.

Seems curious that you haven't shared these comments anywhere until now. Why is that? Only you'd know the answer, but why do you only do so when other people are criticizing him by stat-watching?

He's not inspiring confidence ATM. He may need to spend in total 3 years of college. I get he doesn't have to be a PPG but like closer to 0.5-0.75 ppg would at least make him more intriguing.

no shocker, but not invited to the US WJC camp. Woulda been more surprised if he made the camp tbh.

There is always next year!

FWIW: Tom Wilson failed to make Team Canada’s WJC team…

One point that needs to be emphasized is that he's playing for one of the most disappointing teams in college hockey this year. Powell, Gallagher, and Tuch were all left off the preliminary team, as well. Peterson made it, but may not make the final team. Commesso will make the final team, but his struggles this season have been mentioned a lot. I don't think playing for a bad team explains everything individually about Boucher's season, but its absolutely a factor as a new player at a level when you are trying to adjust, and the whole team is bad.

For those who have watched him play has he looked decent despite the lack of production?
Watch Tyler Biggs play. Same thing. The Sens went off the board (for some reason) on this one to pick this guy 10th and they will regret that. At best, he’s a middle 6 guy with limited offence.

Nice lazy comparison. Tyler Biggs is also retired, so I'm not sure he's going to be watching him play.

Some of you have to relax. The guy has played three months of games since being drafted. It was explained multiple times before and I believe was said before the season that a tougher season should be expected. Going so overboard because a guy has had two months of bad stats is insane. Prospect development isn't always linear. And there's a human element to all of this, as well. Maybe the guy is going through a rough time away from the rink or has a nagging injury thats hampering him. The point is that it's stupid to overreact to a small sample and it's really quite ridiculous to be calling a player a bust because their counting stats three months into their D+1 are below what's expected.
