Doubt it. That would be like assuming Tarasenko isn't going to get any better.

Kucherov is 2 years younger. If Tarasenko becomes better(which btw depends on the team. The right now Blues are holding him back a lot stats wise), Kucherov will have 2 years to overtake him at least until they are both 25-27. Kucherov has a very unique skillset. Even if people consider Ovechkin for his scoring to be in his own league, I don't. I value vision and presence of mind more than hitting and shot. Not taking anything away from Tarasenko or Ovechkin. They both have their shooting ability to be elite scorers. And they both can do more although a lot of people tend not to see it. I just see Kucherov as more of a complete player.

Comparing Kucherov and Tarasenko I think of the national team. Both right wing they would need to be on completely different lines. while Tarasenko would need a playmaker to utilize his shot properly Kucherov would be able to do a little bit of everything for his line. He can score too, he can pass, he can create and he can held the D.

Back to PB.

Buchnevich ends the regular season with 16+21=37 in 57 games, including this goal today. SKA starts the first round of the playoffs at Yaroslavl on Sunday.

would be surprised to see SKA in the second round with that match-up and how they've been playing.

Buchnevich was given a 5 minute major and ejected for spearing Daniil Apalkov in the groin in Game 2 of the SKA/Lokomotiv series. Not a great penalty considering his team was holding on to a 3-1 lead in the third when it happened. SKA still held on and ended up winning 3-2.

This is the same game that Kovalchuk was scratched for, FWIW.

He also had this assist for the first goal of the game. I don't really care about the penalty, as long as he continues to put up points. Not a smart penalty though. I'll gladly take a big time scorer who takes bad penalties over a bland offensive player who takes no penalties.

^ Don't know if I'd call that a "nasty feed", he was skating with his head down and it looked to me like he just shoveled the puck to the middle because he was about to get lit up.

Well the puck landed directly on the stick that led to a breakaway goal all while avoiding getting lit up. I'd take it...

So you are saying it was just a lucky pass?

This exact discussion was had in the Rangers section and the only person who thought it wasn't meant was a poster who always tries to slight Buchnevich because he's mad that we traded Duclair.

I don't believe it was "just a lucky pass". I watch him play all the time, he has that type of ice vision and touch with his passes.

I don't think the Rangers discussion page is the best place to get impartial discussion on a prospects play.

My own opinion? I think it was a lot closer to luck than a brilliant pass or anything like that.

I could see arguments for both, as in that situation some players just chip the puck along, but I've watched him make crazy difficult passes many times.

If this was John Scott making that pass, I think most would just say luck, but we are talking about a top prospect who's shown the ability to make incredible touch passes and see these passes with incredible ice vision.

Either way, its an assist for him. Another three SKA losses and he could then join the Rangers.

About the pass, imo, Buchnevich clearly knew that Barabanov should be somewhere there, so it wasn't a blind move (otherwise he would just dump the puck along the boards for a safer option). Actually, looking at that gif, I think just before the collision Buchnevich quickly looked towards that ice zone. Maybe he was a bit lucky on the timing, but c'mon, every fancy play has a bit of luck than.

I think it was a heads up play and very good awareness on Buchnevich to make the pass as he was about to get hit. He put the puck in a spot that gave his line-mate a chance. There's a lot to be said about making the simple, and right play under pressure and he did exactly that.

Calling it a "nasty feed" is a bit over the top though. Enjoy it for what it is. A very good hockey play. If he was also a bit 'lucky', then so be it. You make your own luck.

For those bored with the NHL trade deadline, you can stream SKA-Lokomotiv here .. Buchnevich just scored on a high-glove wrister from between the hash marks to make it 2-0.

The Buch-Shirokov-Barabanov line works so well together. He's finally found a consistent spot in the lineup, and he's doing very well. 1+2=3 in 4 playoff games so far. He was also named player of the game.

The speed at which the puck is off his stick and the accuracy of the shot are amazing. :amazed:

Almost every indication out there indicates he will not accept their offer, but SKA will try. This probably requires Kovy type money for him to stay.

Eh, we haven't really heard much of an indication to anything. He gives the "right" answers at times but that doesn't really mean much. That said I pray he doesnt not except this offer...even if its only a 1 year ext.

The GM of Severstal said the reason he traded him was because he was going to the NHL at the end of the season, he's all but confirmed he wants to play in the NHL next season in interviews, every NYR source I've seen seems to indicate they believe he's coming over, the team probably would've traded him for Staal if they actually thought he wasn't coming over instead of what we gave up, and the ruble is completely in the tank.

There's a lot of information that indicates he's probably joining the Rangers. We can't rule out him re-signing with SKA, as they have the capability to offer him as much money as he wants, but he's probably not going to accept their offer.

Haha trust me, I hope you are right but I always expect the worst so i'm not as disappointed if it happens
