Is it looking like he'll come over once the season is done? I know there was speculation that SKA was gonna throw money at him

Most signs point to yes, Severstal probably wouldn't have traded him if he was staying in Russia. He always says in interviews the NHL is his ultimate goal. Gorton wanted him over here this season.

Scored his first two goals today as an SKA player against his former team Severstal. He's 2+2=4 over his last four games, despite getting very few minutes. Today he took the fewest shifts on the team of players who finished all three periods, even though he scored two goals.

whenever I see someone bring back a Buchnevich thread, im always hoping its a comment that hes on his way over now haha

Called up to the Russian National Team. Its a team of mostly younger players though.

Yeah me too

Safe estimate is for next season. There's a small chance he could come over between March and May, but that depends on how SKA does in the playoffs, whether they release him from his contract once their season is over or make him wait until the last day of his contract, and whether or not he makes the Russian National Team for the training camp and then World Championship.

Buchnevich's ceiling is a Panarin/Kucherov level, imo. Not quite Tarasenko, but still very good.

damn you guys.. I got fooled again... saw the buchnevich thread at the top again and hoped it was news that he was on his way over hahah

I'm hoping SKA gets swept so we could get him over here, although he might make the Russian NT camp for the WC's. When is that roster announced? Maybe the Rangers can sign him to a deal before that even comes up, and at that point he's not in contention because he's an NHL player on a likely playoff team.

I would be happy to see Buchnevich reach the level of Panarin.

If I could give a criticism of Buchnevich, I would say that he can be a little passive with his offensive game. There is a lot of skill to him, but he doesn't force the issue much of the time.

I would not be shocked if he has some growing pains in the NHL.

Hopes he don't end up like Semin! (The second part of his career)
