makes tons of sense that clendening is getting fired tomorrow, but he's going to call in sick today when the only thing he can do to possibly save his job is play an excellent game. :sarcasm:

I think its more likely he said "you're too injured to play today" to the two players on the team who he gives no leash.

At this point, its not even a leash. Av puts out incorrect information about buchnevich that are typical cliches about rookies and russian players, and so many people lap it up. The guy is 50th in the league in point efficiency in the whole league as a rookie, yet he gets scratched for the worst player in the nhl what is looking like a second time after being sent to the ahl because the coach made up more incorrect information that too many people lapped up.

Edit: And here's the proof.

Post that tweet all you want. There's been no indication anywhere that what that guy posted had anything to do with the decision made. The coach was asked after the game why he made the decisions he did, and he said it was not health related.

You were initially wrong in your assumption, and thats okay. There were a number of people who thought what you did initially, but it turned out that the coach healthy scratched, emphasize the healthy, Buchnevich and Clendening.

1) To me, that tweet does not indicate that Buch thinks that he is unfit to play.

2) Did you have something that proves your point? Or should I just trust the fan blog that has little to no access to the team?

Here, another guy, says pretty much the same thing. Credentialed beat reporter that writes for WFAN, a popular radio station in NY owned by CBS. And whether or not that guy who runs the account of the first tweet I posted is some fan who runs a blog, he's at the press briefings.

still puzzles me how he's getting scratched..

well, in the final 3 games of the year (averaging 14 minutes a night), he failed to get a SINGLE shot on goal. It's not like he played super well going into the playoffs.

That being said, the Rangers seem to roll 4 skilled lines, and he fits in a lot better than Tanner Glass does...

He was actually really good in the final game of the season. The fact he had no shots is just a fluke. He had many opportunities. The prior two games he was not that good, but really, he has the shortest leash in the league. His leash isn't even really a leash. He sometimes has very good games, and then isn't in the lineup the next game. He's been moved around all season, one game on the first line, then a game on the fourth line, then a few in the press box, then the cycle repeats. You can't get into any rhythm without any consistency. This coach has misused him. Had he given him the same opportunities that Vesey had gotten, he'd probably be the team's best forward by now. But instead, he's really not allowed a bad game. If that happens, he's watching the next game in the press box, and then the cycle repeats itself.

The coach has used anti-Russian propaganda against him, and he's actually gotten some to believe it. They claim he's so terrible defensively, but if you watch closely, he's no worse defensively than most rookies. For example, Vesey is worse defensively, but he plays visually intense, Buchnevich does not.

Its essentially a lost second-half to the season. He showed well, I think Ranger fans should be happy with his play and what he showed, but the coach has just about shut him down for the season. Hopefully he's given a real chance next season.

Why do you talk about yourself in third person?

It does look like he might play today in a big role. The coach seems to be panicking that his toughness strategy isn't working, as if there was any surprise that skill wins in the NHL.

Buch will be a star. Incredible that with our extremely limited prospect pool the only two good prospects we had going into this season(Skjei,Buchnevich) have both been fantastic! Buchnevich has been great even after beeing out alot with an injury, limited minutes and scratched alot(only AV knows why) etc and Skjei has been our 2nd best defensemen this season.

It's very exciting to see him play so much differently than last year. He seems to have learned what he did wrong. Most of the time AV scratching him angered me but it seems it has helped Buch. He was great defensively last night and is making plays himself now instead of waiting for the puck to come to him, even playing physically now.

Buch is incredibly more involved in the play this year. Last year it seemed like he was waiting for the puck or play to come to him now he is in the mindset that he is going to dictate the game.

I think he still needs to take another step but this season has been a brightside into what Buch can be.

That's what getting a bigger frame/more muscle can do. It allows you to be more confident in getting involved and being a catalyst instead of waiting for something to happen.

He's still a prospect?

Looks stronger and a better skater this season (from good to very good) and the coach is trusting him much more.

Seems to be quite productive but regularly gets <10min from AV, whats the deal here?

No idea. Played on the first line to open the season, and then has been playing on the fourth line in the last few. The curious bit is that he's still on PP1, so clearly the trust in the offense is there in some capacity.

Don't know if it's AV trying to "spread the wealth" or something else. AV has been line juggling the last few games anyway.

But don't let that stop the narratives that AV hates the kid.
