No idea. Played on the first line to open the season, and then has been playing on the fourth line in the last few. The curious bit is that he's still on PP1, so clearly the trust in the offense is there in some capacity.

Don't know if it's AV trying to "spread the wealth" or something else. AV has been line juggling the last few games anyway.

But don't let that stop the narratives that AV hates the kid.
I don't necessarily think AV hates anyone, he's a pretty amicable guy. Watching him in Vancouver however, his usage of young players was pretty infuriating. I hope that is not the case in NY.

It's pretty much exactly the case with the Rangers. His usage of all our players, particularly some of the younger guys, is always in question.

AV either hates him or he's unable to properly assess his contribution. One or the other applies, maybe both.

Buch has been one of our best forwards to start the season (was also last season as well to start the season before AV decided he wouldn't be), but he's always the scapegoat by AV. Always. He doesn't even need to do anything wrong, its him. Good thing though, AV probably will be gone soon. He might not stay on if we lose tomorrow.

Somehow he is always pushed down the lineup when the team plays bad or goes on a skid. Buch has looked night and day compared to last year and is still being punished for no real reason.

He is much more involved in the play, unlike last year where he let the play come to him a bit more. He got stronger over the offseason and that it quite clear when you watch him play.

Zibanejad and Buch formed a really good line with Kreider, and I thought they were very effective most nights - some nights you wonder how they didn't end up with 4-5 goals.

However with the Rangers really struggling AV is going to try anything to save his job, but Buch is always the one who suffers from it. It's pretty infuriating.

I think the best thing for Buch would be AV getting fired, and having a new coach come in - at least you would think, but who knows how he would get treated with another coach. He's being wasted on the fourth line playing 10mins, especially for how much stronger and how involved he has been in the play.

He was probably pushed down the lineup because he had a couple screwups defensively and the team as a whole is struggling so the coaches freaked out and needed to play the "defensively responsible veterans" etc etc

I don't agree with it but coaches seem to be kinda panicking about finding a way to get the team winning

Not the perfect situation to be in for him, but he is by now a level headed mature guy it seems. He knows how good he is. He will be alright... maybe when this coaching staff is gone.

This kid is playing some phenomenal hockey. 5 goals, 10 points in 13 games. The biggest difference between now and his rookie year (where he was still .5 ppg) is size. He was skilled enough last year to play but this year he is strong enough to be a force.

Buchnevich luckily stayed and developed in Russia.

Unlike those clowns like Kabanov, Grigorenko, Yakupov, Svechnikov (who's already damaged goods at 17), Goldobin etc. etc. etc.

Why don't these idiots get it already? How many Russian prospects must be ruined before they FIGURE IT OUT and stay in Russia?

His strength is really night and day, he's shrugging people off like they're not there this year. I think if he takes another step forward through the rest of the season/offseason he has a realistic chance of being the best forward on the team

Lots of promising young players fail to stick in the NHL, regardless of where they play as teenagers. The CHL didn't seem to hurt Kucherov any.

How is Svechnikov damaged goods before even being drafted? lol

He should be. What's most amazing is his shot. It used to be a weakness.

Honestly though, are we sure he isn't already the team's best forward? Take a look at all the stats, he's either the best or top few of like every category there is.

Buchnevich ranks on the team.

Goals: 2nd
Assists: 5th
Points: 2nd
P/60: 2nd
P1/60: 2
ES P/60: 2nd
ES P1/60: 1st
5 on 5 P/60: 2nd
5 on 5 P1/60: 1st
PP P/60: 4th
Game Score: 2nd
Game Score/60: 2nd
5 on 5 Game Score: 2nd
5 on 5 Game Score/60: 1st
5 on 5 CF%: 3rd
5 on 5 Rel CF%: 3rd
5 on 5 GF%:2nd
5 on 5 GF: 2nd
CF %: 1st
Rel CF %: 1st
GF%: 1st
Rel GF%: 1st

Now he's the big difference

TOI %: 14th

If the coach had kept the KZB line together all season and didn't blame his poor coaching on Buchnevich, he'd probably have more wins, and Buchnevich might have another few points. Lets see if AV acts a little differently, given Buchnevich, Zibanejad and Kreider saved his job last night in the third.

Is he still considered a prospect any more?

ya id say he still is forsure... has only played 59 career NHL games so far ... I realize he wont be setting foot in the AHL again, but id still consider him a prospect on this site definately

Mikhail Grigorenko was a way better prospect at 16-17 than Buchnevich. Look at them now.

Lol, Grigorenko was considered atop prospect, when Buch was 17 yo. And even then you couldn't compare them, because Grigo played in the CHL and Buchnevich played in the KHL, where Grigorenko couldn't get in. Overal, Buchnevich was always considered way more talented, in Russia at least.

I'd say it's more correct about Buch's pal Nichushkin. They were of the same draft year, and people once were obsessed with Nuke, his size and skating.

The thing about Pavel Buchnevich is I feel like he's scoring on some flukier plays but not scoring on his better chances. Which makes me wonder if that will even out or if the flukier plays will disappear and he still won't finish on the better chances. He's a good looking player but I feel like there's still more to be uncovered.
