Personally, as an Ohioan, I want nothing to do with top 5 Russian picks after the Zherdev and Filatov flops.

But as for your “facts” — they’re as weak as your lame ass shots at Columbus when we have Marchenko, Voronkov, Tarasov, and Chinakhov leaving Russia on their own accord for Ohio.

Well, of course they did. It's not like they can sign with another team.

I mean yes. Bedard, Fantilli and Carlson go before him but it’ll be because GM’s don’t want to wait not because they legitimately think Russia will refuse to release him.
Well, there's also the whole Center thing that has to be factored in. For some teams they can just take BPA, but the very early 1st round picks are often playing in the NHL in two years, so those teams that need a top 6 Center will give more consideration to those who play the position.

If he falls to #8 the Caps will spend the first 30 seconds of their 3 minute discussion time just pinching themselves to make sure they aren't dreaming, then the next minute will be spent on ordering the booze and there will be just enough time remaining to decide who will be the designated drafter to stay sober for the second day of the draft. No time will be left for the risk assessment though.
And it will take two days for Michkov's contract to be bought out, and two more for him to be living in Ovi's basement.
If Michkov is still there at #5, WAS has to throw everything they can Montreal to get a chance to pick him.

NHL teams can’t buy out KHL contracts. They can’t give him the money to do it either.

No change to his style in all these U25 games, mostly against Belarus. Playing 4th line minutes and defensemen are missing him streaking. They aren’t feeding him the puck and he’s been open. Still hustles on the forecheck and backchecks when necessary.
I thought he looked very good considering his low ice time. His off puck effort and defensive play were notably good, especially against pretty strong competition.

I'll never have any concerns about his offensive potential, so seeing how far he's come away from the puck in just 1 year is very impressive. From the 8 games I watched, he wasn't on the ice for a single goal against. Impressive stuff

Who knows? I am saying that if any NHL team will be able to arrange it, it will be Ovi's team.

Yep, Mirochnichenko was able to void the final year of his contract with Omsk to come over to Washington.

So it's definitely possible.

Does it have something to do with Washington and the fact they have Ovie?

I don't know...

P.S.: as a Habs fan, I hope that if he's still available at 5, they'll pick him.

He'll eventually come over and the reward is worth the sacrifice of waiting a few years...

We NEED that kind of exceptional offensive talent in Montreal. We haven't seen such a thing since... well too long...

Miroshnichenko had a clause in his contract allowing him to leave in his final year if he wanted to try the NHL.
Both Omsk and Miroshnichenko agreed to it when he signed the deal a few years ago.

I dont think I would call Zherdev a complete flop, he had a couple decent seasons as a Jacket

Teams passing on Michkov are going to be kicking themselves in 3 years when he comes over and eventually makes an impact like Kucherov or Kaprizov. If he doesn't go by 4 to the Sharks or 5 to the Habs, a crime has been committed.
Unfortunately the teams/GM's passing on him wont care even if he is terrific in hindsight , their argument is that the gm drafting him probably won't have a job when he comes over, it's really the fans who will be mad

He's becoming the most underrated prospect ever. People just don't understand how unique is the kid.

I'd say they underrate even his hockey skills (skating, stickhandling, shot, IQ) and absolutely ignore his multidimentional qualities. He's not just a crazy skilled hockey player, he's one of those who are called captain material. It's hard for him to show his leadership in the KHL right now because he's so young, but it was obvious in junior leagues. And he's a pest as well. He loves to provoke opponents to do stupid things like he did to that big Ak Bars defenseman who attacked him and got 5+20.

I have to agree when he is being placed 5th on some "reputable" lists he is very underrated. I would not take Carlson over this guy, flat out. He's a great prospect but Michkov is basically being ignored and the first talk point is always politics or his contract situation.

Prospect for prospect, I see no way he is ranked below 3rd , and even then it's still very much disputable if he is the 2nd best prospect in the draft politics and contract aside. The size doesn't bother me at all, Marner, Kaprizov etc don't have a big physical presence either and it hasn't stopped them. I really think michkov will become a star in the NHL - he's got an excellent shot, he is deceptive in his skating and elite on his edges, his IQ and creativity are off the charts , I've said it before in *some* ways his play style reminds me of Crosby just in how he is able to make subtle moves and plays that affect the game so much more than they are often given credit for. I don't think he's Crosby-level good , but he does the little things so well and consistently, it's impossible to ignore his track record too.

If this kid falls to the Habs I will jump for joy

As a GM I would closely watch the WC where the two hype boys have a combined 5 points against the who is who in hockey. I hope for them NHL Teams are not as strong as Norway. Hobey Baker Award…

Call me crazy but after watching him at every level this season, I find him to be the best player off the puck (offensively and defensively) of the top 4. He's the most complete player and not some unidimensional small goalscoring winger. He also got much faster with his skating, got stronger too. I've been thoroughly impressed by his development.
