This is getting confusing. We need to make a reference guide for what constitutes an illegitimate Michkov goal (or assist).

Not legitimate
1. Any/all goals scored against a goaltender making his KHL debut
2, Any/all goals scored against a Chinese goaltender
3. Any/all goals scored while loaned to a KHL 'farm team'.

Am I missing any?:neener:

That assist doesn’t count, it’s Saturday. The defender and goaltender are on weekend mode, probably more focused on New Years Eve.

Still it was a beautiful play. Just in Michkov style.

Btw it's Kolosov in the nets, another Flyers prospect, so he just helped his future teammate to get another point.

Michkov made a very subtle dip of his shoulder and took the puck back a bit further simultaneously during his stick handle giving the goalie the impression he was about to shoot. Brilliant skill. This guy is amazing.

4. KHL is not as good a league as it once was.

Pretty sure they’ll only count if he can manage to stop being Russian somehow

He's now 22+27 in 59 games for Sochi, and he's just turned 19. Malkin at the same age played 86 games in the Russian top hockey league and scored 15+29. Ovechkin played 115 games and scored 23+20.

Btw Tarasenko at the same age scored the same 49 points in the KHL, but in 115 games...
Regardless of the league state at this time vs their time, you can't ignore the raw numbers he's putting up. Can't wait to see him in the NHL.

Are Michkov’s and Demidov’s situation different or similar meaning will Demidov have to play 3 years in KHL too?

Demidov's KHL contract only runs through the 24-25 season. He would be eligible to come over in 2025.

Some people want to make the argument that somehow the KHL is worse off because fewer mediocre pros are coming over from other countries. I think it's good they're not coming over: opens up new opportunities for talented Russians to establish themselves, and more icetime for youngsters on top clubs. People also forget that Russia in the Ovechkin/Malkin years had very sub-par goaltending. Whereas in the present day, Russia is the great goalie factory of the whole hockey world. Prospect development is significantly above what was 15-20 years ago. The KHL is a much better run league than the old RSL, and now there's a shift away from accommodating and overpaying mediocre 30-year old foreigners and more emphasis on developing homegrown talent. This is a win for Russian hockey long-term.
