FYI there's already a thread on him. I think the main reason he isn't ranked in the top 60 is that he was draft eligible last year...not alot of 2nd time eligible players go in the top 60.

How many of them have put up the kind of season that Garland has? His improvement over last year is astronomical.

Craig Button has him ranked 43rd on his list.

I think the issue for you is that most prognosticators are focused on the top players going into the first round and not many venture into listing players in the subsequent rounds.

McKenzie's compilation of 10 scouts and GMs doesn't have him in the top 75. Central Scouting has at 86th...of North American skaters! Factor in the Europeans and goalies and he may be ranked in the 5th or 6th round.

Well think about it.... I doubt they asked 10 scouts for a list of 75 players. They probably asked for a list of 30-40 players and got roughly 75 different names between the 10 scouts.

Actually, it's 85 players including the honorable mentions.

Even if your guess as to how the list is compiled is correct, and there is no real reason to believe it is, it is hard to imagine that nobody would include this guy in a top 40.

Top 40 is 10 picks into the 2nd round.

I love Garland's game but imo he's a 3rd/4th round guy. Somewhere in the 60-90 range.

I can see Boston using one of it's two 2nd rounders on him(because he is a local boy)

If he falls to the 3rd/4th round, whoever picks him up has a steal on their hands.

The NHL nowadays is built for more smaller/skilled players. The Flames may have Gaudreau, but if this guy is still available in the 3rd round, I am taking him.

Size hurts him. 3 inches taller and he would be drafted in the second round last year.

Jaskin was actually drafted a in 2010 by a WHL team but didn't report so they dropped his rights. After his second pro season , an underwhelming one, his agent wanted a change of scenery and Moncton took him in the Euro draft again in 2012. That's why he was available so late in the draft. Proved to be a great move by him as St.Louis hadn't planned on signing him until his great year in Moncton and he's now an NHL regular.

Conor garland

I am sorry for posting this here since I don't really know where I could ask this.

I saw his QMJHL stats and he led the league in scoring so why is he rated 100, 134 and 86 overall?

Shouldn't he be rated a bit higher..?

Very undersized
Overager this draft
Doesn't play defence at all
There's a fear that his game likely won't translate into the NHL

Hes fast so I think the size thing won't matter nearly as much if you make him a winger. Same thing kind of for defense, I don't think he is a center at the NHL level if he makes it there.

Kid has dangles though, reminds me of Schremp but with good skating.

Alot of "ifs" though, overager with speed and dangles... pretty high risk but high reward too.
