I'm not sure how much stock teams put in "peskiness" when evaluating players, but he sure as **** isn't a player I enjoy watching succeed. Easily my most hated Wildcat in the last two seasons, and that was before he was lighting up the league. I imagine he draws a tonne of penalties.

Good on him. It's always nice to see smaller, talented guys doing well.

Brad Marchand-lite?

Fantrax has his height listed at 8'2, while weighing in at 165 pounds. At least one part of that is accurate.

He's having a really impressive season though. looking at his size I'd have to think some teams would be scared to invest a high pick, wonder who pulls the trigger first (if any).

My guess is Tampa, they seem to love the small forwards up there.

Montreal , Tampa Bay or Buffalo are my best guesses.

The person that brought Garland to Moncton was Danny Flynn , now Buffalo's assistant coach and the two are very familiar with one another.

There's a Toronto scout based out of Moncton that would see a lot of him so they might take a shot at him , although it's not often you see them draft like that. Most later round picks belong to Bergman.

Currently has 31 points over a 12 game point streak.

He's had five 3-point games in a row , being named the game 1st star in each game.

Pretty impressive tear he's on!

Sven Andrighetto (5'9) was taken by Montreal as a 20 year old late 3rd round in 2013 after having a great season in Rouyn, so this guy could possibly end up going late 2nd or early 3rd round as a 19 year old.

Yep, and I guarantee that we're really happy with the pick. Garland could be a good one!

Is he solid on his skates and hard to take off the puck despite his size?

Very solid on his skates and hard to defend against. He's very shifty , almost slippery. Defenders have a hard time trying to contain him. Although he's small , he's not afraid to go into the corners and almost always comes out with the puck. The kids a gamer.

Can you see it?

It seems obvious to me when I watch him play...I see Claude Giroux....almost to the point where if I saw the kid grab a cop's backside while I was walking down the street or at a bar, I'd ask him to sign a Flyer's #28 jersey.....

On the ice, they seem eerily similar...your description of Garland matches my description of Giroux and opinion of Conor's game....I saw him against Blainville in all the home games of Moncton's series in Boisbriand..made the biggest impact on the game, competitive, engaged, skilled and the most mobile player on the ice, LAST YEAR...I only saw him once this season and Armada ate Moncton alive, Conor didn't impress that much but you couldn't say that it was for a lack of trying. Armada were pressuring Moncton non-stop and they couldn't break-out of their zone if their lives depended on it that night. They had a terrible game or Armada was just incredible that night..maybe both but I think Garland still posted up a point regardless of his team's poor effort.

Not sure if it's been mentioned before and it really isn't relevant at all when it comes to the players they are now, but Garland and Eichel were both apart of the Jr. Bruins team during the 2011-2012 season, their pre draft years into the Q. Garland led the team in scoring with 96 points in 40 games, and Eichel was second on the team with 86 points in 36 games. If Garland wasn't so tiny he would be considered a top 10 lock IMO.

If he were 6'3" 190lbs , he'd be a top pick , no doubt about it.

He put on some weight this year
listed at:
5"8
168lbs (he's most likely gonna break 170 lbs next year , which is plenty for someone 5"8 imo)

currently leading QMJHL:
29 G
78 A
107 PTS

yea but with the depth of this draft i see him more as a 4th-5th round pick tbh

That's pretty much how I would describe him as well.

My only knock on Garland from watching him is that he stays on the ice for 2-3 minute shifts way too often. Obviously that would not happen at the next level but its just annoys me.

Cool, thanks for the info! Would like my Habs to take a flyer on him.

Had 3 points in 7 of 11 games, 2 points in 2 and 1 in the other 2 games through last month.

That is an impressive month.

Conor was named 1st star today in Moncton's 6-2 win over Saint John scoring 1 goal and adding 3 helpers.

That gives him 117 points which broke Wildcats franchise record which was previously held by Sebastien Roger.

4 games remaining to boot.

great job for Conor! :handclap:

I expect a nice day for him in June when he gets selected at the draft and he will follow that up with a selection to team USA at the WJC...which he should have been this year.

I'm leaning more towards him being taken in the 3rd / 4th round now.

Size hasn't been an issue at all. His hockey IQ is through the roof and more than makes up for it. He's excelled at every level of hockey he's played. Someone is going to get a top end talent with a mid round pick.

Wow, I hope Alan Power can persuade the Leafs into taking him with one of the picks we acquired.

He'll be this years version of Rinat Valiev... Make it happen!!!
