Not that it changes your point much, but Toews was in his 18-year-old (draft+1) year when he posted 18 goals in 34 games. He accelerated his schooling to play his 17-year-old (draft) year in the NCAA, like Hanifin did last season.
Am I incorrect that both Kessel and Toews put up those numbers in their actual draft years, while Boeser is doing it in his draft + 1 season???

Boeser's having a great yr though.

Toews' 18 goal season was his draft + 1 season (sophomore)
Not sure about Kessel.

Kessel and Toews turned 18 during their freshman seasons. Boeser turns 19 during his freshman season.

That's fair except Boeser is also burying Toews' Soph season for goals too. 18 in 34 for Toews, Boeser's on pace for 24 in 34. Of course Toews racked up more assists and points but I'd say anytime you can be ahead of a player like Toews on a stat its impressive.

He may be the best pure goal scorer in the 2015 draft class. His shot is unreal

His Style offensively reminds me of Rick Nash. Big boy, who is willing to go to dirty areas, and has ability to beat a Goalie from distance.

No where close to as big or skater, which will make it tough to power in on defenders like Nash. Maybe a smaller Heatley at best.

reminds me so much of Joe Pavelski. Knows where to go on the ice, good hands around the net, great shot that can pick corners. Could see him potting 30 a year for a long time.

That's a hefty comparison. Pavelski is one of the most underrated players in the league. I say it as often as a I can, but he doesn't get the attention he deserves. I hope Boesser can have a career like that. He certainly looks like he'll be a great player in the pros.

nip pickers at it again.

Jonathan Toews SEASON AFTER HE GOT DRAFTED.
18 goals in 34 games.

Phil the Thrill
(Phil Kessel started his college season also as an 18 year old) that year he had 18 goals in 39 games.

Brock Boeser SEASON AFTER HE GOT DRAFTED.
(Brock Boeser started his rookie college season as a 18 year old)
currently has 20 goals in 30 games.

Your so oversimplifying it (and this is not to bash Boeser) but look at these (players who had draft positions similar to Boeser).

Chuck Kobasew 18 year old season 27 in 43

Jeff Tambellini 26 in 43

Hugh Jessiman 23 in 34

Now, there is also Parise (26 in 39), Heatley (28 in 38) and Cammaleri (29 in 42) who compare well, but these are all guys from the last 15 years. So, I'd say how scouts who watch them a lot matter, just bringing up 10 year old comparables (while not mentioning the bad ones) doesn't give your argument much weight. Boeser has nowhere near the all-around game Toews has or the pure skill/skating Kessel poessed, he has a very obvious flaw (that is one of the easier things to fix).

Relax. As another poster said, there have been guys with better numbers who busted or didn't turn out to be stars.

I'm very happy with Boeser's progress. Everything we could have hoped for. Let's enjoy it and see how he pans out. I'd really like to get him in the AHL next season.

The big ice clearly not his type of game (average WJC, also his age), but on NHL size ice, this guy has a legit Superstar shot.

If he gains a step, watch out.
