Probably not given how strong the draft class is. But he is trending strongly.
He would go top 15 easily he is a better prospect then all 3 Boston picks and those were all top 15.
His shot is identical to stamkos.
The speed and quickness of it, just awesome.
His wrister is similar for sure, but I've literally never seen this guy take a slapshot. Anyone know what his slapper is like?
His playstyle kind of reminds me of Joe Pavelski. A little slow at skating (although not bad by any means) but makes up for it by being very smart in the offensive zone and utilizing a top tier shot.
I see him having a better shot than Pavelski imo. Both similar but I think Boeser's is going to be a little better when it's fully developed. Just insane, and already elite at his age. I don't think a 40 goal season with the right linemates, assuming Boeser develops as planned, is out of question, similar to Pavelski... Consistent 25-30 goals would be excellent as well.
Kessel never used one either, relied on a snap shot or quick wrister. A slapshot is far from essential.Naslund almost never scored with a slapshot. Same with Sakic.
I'm always skeptical of players whose biggest weapon is their shots and have average/slow foot speed. You just don't get any space in the NHL. Just look at Jakob Silf, arguuably the best shot in the league, but he can never get it off because he can never get space. He's not even a bad skater.
Boeser is getting so much open space in college to shoot. I'd temper the hype a bit.
I agree that there is a risk with almost every prospect, except maybe the top few picks, as to whether their game translates to the NHL.
But his goal scoring numbers for a freshman are in elite company with names like Parise. US College hockey is a tough league to score a lot of goals compared to the CHL. The other college players get the same amount of space as he does but don't put up those numbers.
Excited to see Boeser when he eventually leaved college and comes to the Canucks camp.
Reminds me of Matt Frattin when he was in North Dakota, tremendous shot and similar builds too. Frattin's 4th year where he got 36 goals in 44 games was great. Thing is that was Frattin's 4th year and Boeser's putting up similar numbers in his first year with North Dakota. Boeser has way more time and potential to work on the rest of his game to make sure he's NHL ready.
It's a little different when one guy is a freshman and the other is in his 4th year...If Boeser is somehow still playing in UND in his 4th year he would absolutely slaughter everyone.
As a canuck fan it's hard to contain my excitement for this kid.
