RW Brock Boeser - North Dakota, NCAA (2015, 23rd, VAN) II

Man I've been impressed with this guy all preseason long. I've see every goal he's scored so far and he's got all the tools to eventually be a big time sniper. His ability to cut to the middle and rip it is something to watch. He's already looking like an early candidate for the Calder.

2011 Kesler says hi.

That year was more a product of the Sedins and playing with them on the PP than anything. He's never broken 30 goals in a season in his career, that year aside.

I mean, Daniel also scored 41 in 2011, doesn't necessarily make him a sniper either.

This is inaccurate.

The Sedins were as big of a product as Kesler was on the PP. Before that year, Kesler lead the team in goals on the second unit without the Sedins.

and Kesler was clearly a sniper that year and onwards. Kesler had 20+ goal seasons before his big 40, and in the off-season he worked on his shot, which showed improvement. Did you even watch 2011 Canucks hockey?

and he was also used as a point man on the PP because of it.

Check out that goal around the 0:32 mark, this is what Kesler did consistently. He's a sniper, and had a better shot than Sedin. A lot of Canuck fans reminded Kesler of Naslund because of it. So yes, the point here stands.

Do Nucks fans think he makes the roster ? I wanna drop Raantanen for him and I am amazed by the kid.

Congrats I can't believe he was taken where he was.

Yes. Our GM has said he'll make room for any young player that is at an NHL level. He'll likely be in the top 6 as well.

Oh I picked him up before regretting it. He has been nothing short of a superstar so far but it is preseason. His ot game winner against the Kings signified his elite skills. He has superb Sniper talent.

Goddamnit it feels good to hit a home run for once. Boeser is special, he's going to be a Calder candidate.

His IQ gets underrated due to being a scorer more than playmaker but he just seems to always show up in the right places doing the right things and capitalizes on his chances.

Canucks fans may be annoying about him but please remember we have had very little in the way of young talent to cheer for and this isn't just a breath of fresh air to us -- it's a windstorm.

Barring injury, there is no way they can keep him off the team. It would be a PR nightmare. He's about the only thing to be excited about right now (just based on his play to close last season, and the pre-season this yr). If management sends him down, it pretty much means we have no intention of competing this year.

An argument could be made that he's our 2nd best offensive forward on the roster right now.

There was really no doubts from fans even before the preseason began, now there should be absolutely zero doubts from anyone after how he has performed in the preseason.

Hes pro ready. You can tell he is also very mature for his age.

The Canucks will be in good hands w him and horvat.

1 or 2 more top 6 picks (assuming they hit) and the Canucks will be ready to compete. The problem is in 2-3 yrs the flames and Oilers will be in the midts of their prime.

Canucks will need Dahlin to off set the talent in Alberta.

Sure, he's a sniper. But the kid impressed with his passing and all around play tonight as well.

He always has his head up

That's his best quality. I've never seen him get rocked for having his head down. His head is in the play, his eyes scanning the ice for opportunities

He's got IQ and a half, he's not just a good shot. I'm so impressed

Kesler had 41 goals that year. 15 came on the pp. So 26 was not on the pp. The year before in 2010 Kesler didn't even play with the Sedins on the pp. That year he had 12 ppg. I think its fair to say even if he didn't play with Sedins on pp in 2011 Kesler would of still had at least 35 to 40 goals that year

Eh, doesn't really bother me. Canuck fans should have something to be optimistic about, even if they may or may not be over the top. I actually think some of the most insightful posters on this board are Canuck fans, or at least the absolute # of them is high. It's a shame some of them don't post on the main boards too often.

I see Boeser developing into a player like Patrick Sharp.

It may be homerism but his shot is already more elite than the majority of NHL players.

Not to mention his general humbleness and dedication to family + community. He and Horvat will carry the torch after the Sedins to show what real professionals do.
