RW Brock Boeser - North Dakota, NCAA (2015, 23rd, VAN) II

top 5 best names in the NHL . imo.

i feel confident he is going to be top 5 rookies next season. playing a full season.

I hope Eriksson stays the way he had been, and Sedins continue to regress. a core of

1C Horvat
1RW Boeser
1LW Dahlen ??
2C Hischier/Patrick ??
2LW Goldobin

1D Dahlin
2D Juolevi
3D Tryamkin

1G Demko

is not a bad rebuild at all. (best case scenario)

Boeser will be one of the exciting rookies to watch next year. My guess would be a top-3 contender for the Calder.

Canucks will still be terrible next year though. Bottom 3 in the standings. Benning's retooling on the fly and remaining competitive has obviously failed.

I fail to see how Boeser will be a top 3 contender of Calder if the Canucks are still terrible. They have no scoring and I don't think Boeser will outscore the next leading scorer by 20+ points. Only way Boeser can contend for Calder is if Canucks magically find chemistry next year and have a few 70 point guys and a dangerous powerplay

Well on the bright side, Boeser will get prime offensive minutes, including #1PP time. I expect Sutter's line to get the hard, shutdown matchups, allowing the sedin line and horvat line to play 2nd/3rd lines.

Lineup could look something like this on opening day roster.

Beartschi-Horvat-Boeser
Sedin-Sedin-Goldy
Eriksson-Sutter-Granlund
Dorsett-Gaunce?-Chaput/Megna/whoever

Feel like i forgot someone but it's off the top of my head.

Hoping for a 20-20 rookie season from him next year with good minutes and offensive deployment.

Next years crop of rookies doesn't look to be anything special. Who's there?

Connor
Puljujarvi
Strome
Debrincat?
Keller
Jost
Chabot?

With a relatively underwhelming crop of rookies if Boeser puts up 25 - 30 goals I could see him being a candidate. 4 goals in 9 games with a bum wrist this year. That said he looked pretty slow out there 5v5 so I don't know how realistic it really is.

its possible because next years rookie class is projected to be weaker.

Pool Party isn't eligible for the calder

Winnipeg are a mediocre team (on the rise) and yet Laine has been superb in his rookie season fighting against Matthews. The competition for next year seems lesser, so if Boeser is given every chance to get points as Laine has had, then I don't see why Boeser couldn't at least compete.

Yes but winnepeg is a high scoring team. Laine had Schiefele. The canucks don't have anyone to complement Boeser

Horvat's a stud. And with the way people are hyping up this kid, he should create offense on any line. Really needs to improve on his defensive- and neutral-zone decision making, though, I've seen him make some terrible turnovers, and he finally got burnt on Eberle's goal because of it.

Just watching his clips for college, his shot is something incredible, absolute laser, one of the best shots I have seen.

His hands tho are pretty underrated, lots of time he creates lots of time for his teammates with small little moves, really talented player.

Absolute snipe, the release is something else.

Used the advantage he had, and roofed it, such a smart player man.
His second goal was really sneaky, no look shot to confuse the goalie.

Really looking forward to what he does this year. Aside from the next draft lottery, this is probably the only other bright spot worth being excited about.

Remember when Boeser won't have the time or space to launch his shot in the NHL?

I have VERY high expectations for Boeser this season but can we please not make comments like this til he actually starts doing it in the reg season??? I know last season 4 goals in 9 games was fantastic but please i think this too much and setting ourselves up for some disappointment

Dont get me wrong PD i really hope he blows the league away and gets 50 goals and tbh i see some crazy great potential in him hence my username

I agree with you ROE but it's hard not get to get excited about a prospect who's going to be scoring goals left, right, and centre. If he does score less than 50 goals, I will be severely disappointed as he is a show in for Art Ross, Calder, Lady Byng, King Clancy, Maurice Richard, and Hart Memorial trophy.
