RW Brock Boeser - North Dakota, NCAA (2015, 23rd, VAN) II

Is he eligible for the Calder next year? I know it's 7 games but he's on a 35 goal pace over a full season lol

His hockey IQ is what impresses me most - and why his skating doesn't concern me a lot. He's always in the right position in the offensive zone, always. Was watching him on the goal today before he scored it thinking, he's in perfect position for an open snipe in the net and boom there it is.

Would love to just him him a run with the Sedins next season. Looks like he's good at reading them and where he should be.

IMO the Canucks have one of the better retools going on in the NHL right now. Sven, Boeser, Goldobin, Tanev, OJ, Top 5 pick this year.. They're slowly adding some nice pieces.

agree - the Canucks aren't looking like quite the tire fire everybody thought they were. They've now got most of their future core playing in the NHL or very close to it - Juolevi most likely is in the NHL next year, maybe Demko at some point. With luck they might have a top 3 pick in this year's draft.

Benning's not getting fired, I know a lot of Canucks fans would like that but it won't happen.

When you finish bottom 2 in the league, I wouldn't really call it a re-tool. I'd actually say the re-tool type moves, such signing Erikssen and not trading the Sedins, although I understand why the latter is difficult to do, have the potential to hurt the young core going forward. As Eriksson's deal is a hindrance without a massive rebound, and if they could retain 50% on the Sedins and acquire an asset or two that would help add talent. I do like Horvat and Boeser long-term though. Tanev is great, but he might be a sell candidate.

Well they've done a minor rebuild, not really blowing it up like Toronto or Buffalo did, but just drafting well and making smart little trades (Sven +Goldobin).

Horvat... aka the best one. Same age as Goldobin and 3 years younger than Sven.

Hockey IQ is off the charts. You can tell he isn't 100% but a good summer of recovery and working out will do wonders. 4 goals in 8 games!

2bh he should even have 5.

Had a massive scoring chance a few games ago on the pp, just shot it high

I don't think it's wise to base any sort of expectations for Boesers rookie season on the games he's played this season. Not saying I wouldn't be happy if that's the case, but let's not get ahead of ourselves here.

Agreed. Let's see what he does over 82.
