So would he be regarded as a potential blue chip prospect at this point?
No, he has too many question marks. He's a small guy who while being decent to a good skater, he isn't elite, which you want from a guy his size. He has a great wrist shot and is good at finding the holes in the D to exploit. He's a great guy to get in the 2nd round as a boom/bust guy, but to call him blue-chip would be a very loose definition of it. He will be an intriguing guy to track though.

If he was a little bit bigger, I personally would. I understand your POV especially with Marner last year, but Marner is bigger, and a more elusive/elite skater.

Additionally I think Marner's IQ is better. With that said, he certainly has all the tools to be a good NHLer. The issue is he won't ever be able to cycle, or fight in front of the net or anything like that.

This decreases his chance of making it as he's a PP/top 6 player or bust.

I'm interested in being proven wrong though, as I wanted Hunter to take him.

If he keeps it up hell be regarded like how Gaudreau was as a prospect. Blue chip skill but big questions marks. If you were to give him HF rating itd be a 9E

12 goals in 10 games tho LOL

It's unbelievable, that him and Tyler Raddysh haven't got more press for what they are doing in the OHL right now. They are dominating as hell and I am super excited to see what both those guys will do in the future.

Debrincat did the exact same thing last year to start the season so I would hold off on getting over excited. He had something like 10 goals in his first 3 games last year and was on pace for something like 100 goals and 150 points at the 10 game mark last year.

Definitely an interesting prospect, and there's no question he can score at the junior level. The biggest test will be his transition to pro because his skating is not elite and he's as small as they come.

DeBrincat's known as a hot starter. His stats for the first 10 games the last 3 seasons are fairly similar:

'14-15: 13g, 6a, 19 pts
'15-16: 13g, 7a, 20 pts
'16-17: 12g, 11a, 23 pts

Well the one I am getting way more excited about is Raddysh anyways, as he certainly is not known as a hot starter..

Don't be patronizing. He's popular on these boards because he put up huge numbers. There's a reason he wasn't taken till 39.

Dude, he wasn't even drafted in the ohl and he was top player from game one as a under sized 16 year old. I think it's pretty safe he's doing something extra that isn't easy to put on a scouting report.

Skating has been a rap on him. So how non elite is it. Average, below average, John Scott slow?

Grats. Him and Raddysh are killing it.

Question from a TB fan to Erie fans: Is Taylor Raddysh a product of DeBrincat? Getting lucky bounces? Wondering what's up, because I don't think any of us were expecting 39 points in 15 games.

Raddysh greatly improved his skating like some have mentioned. Of course when you play together you are going to be a product of your linemates. Doesn't mean hes not a good player.

I would say average by NHL standards. He's not slow, but he's not really speedy or overly explosive either at this point with his skating, and isn't super agile. I do like his gritty aspect, but I don't know how much of that he'll be able to carry over to the NHL at his size. Kid has a wicked shot though, so if he can improve his skating and overcome his size, he certainly has the shot of an NHL goal scorer.

Back to back 51 goal seasons and this year he already has 18 in 15! Definitely some impressive numbers
