Adam Mascherin does not play a "really hard physical" game, are you thinking of the right player? I'm a fan of Mascherin, he's got a great shot (ranked best in Western Conference in coaches poll) and good all around offensive instincts. He is strong but not very physical, can stand up to hits and doesn't get intimidated by guys trying to hit him, but he plays a skill game.

Yeah i noticed that mistake too, sorry. :shakehead my bad.

This kid can score. Single handedly keeping Erie in the game.

Good thing too... both of his delay of game penalties in the first period resulted in PPG's for London.... he had some work to do, to make up for his mistakes. ;-)

Two poor penalties that hurt the Otters badly but he drove the offense in the final 40. He should go late first round imo despite the small stature, not sure what else he can do to prove he can play.

Another Jordan Schroeder?

Literally play nothing alike. Debrincat has a great nose for the net and is an elite finisher in that area, but really isn't much of a puck carrier. I'd say Brian Gionta is a better comparison in terms of style, with Gionta being the better skater and Debrincat having the better shot, hands, and size.

With the right guy setting him up, he could have a few big goal scoring years in the NHL, much like what we saw with Gionta and Gomez back in the day. It's also just as likely he's not able to find a niche in the league and struggles as an NHL player. He'll likely have to round out his game a bit if he wants to become a NHL'er.

Gionta is a great comparison for him.

I would say perhaps Theo Fleury.

people may joke about this but I assure you general managers paid attention to when this kid went after the 6'5 Michael McCarron...this kid has grit and isn't afraid to step up and get in faces...players like this find ways to succeed because they have to work so hard on the ice in all facets of the game.

Perfectly said. Undersized players that are tenacious, fearless and can score and agitate are fantastic complimentary players. Players that have a work ethic like him are contagious in game.

No, maybe the undersized and tenacious bit, but he has nowhere close to the vision/awareness Briere had. Maybe closer to a guy like Marchand. Capable of being a pest and a good goal scorer. Will go to the dirty areas to consistently score. He's not going to carve out a career on his playmaking.

I still stand by that this will be one of the best picks of the draft. I tought for certain he would go 1st round before, but as it has unfolded I would believe he could go anywhere between 20-40. Looking back to this draft in 10 years I still think he will have had an top 10 career of the class. Of course there still is a chance that he will not cut it, as with all players. But would love to see what a team with great development program like Detroit could do with him.

Wouldn't mind the Isles taking a stab with 19 or even trading down.
