Protecting Kassian is a top 10 dumb GM moment unless there is a trade in the works post-expansion draft. The Oilers could really use that freed up money over the next 3 years especially once the UFA overpays start rolling in. Has nothing to do with Benson really.

Wow. Lots of futures to move on from that bad contract. Ladd is at 5.5M for only 2 more years. Neal is at 5.75M for only 2 more years. Does this Ladd trade set the market for moving on from Neal?

This should also provide some perspective on why Hawks taking on Neal wasn’t really realistic in the Keith trade if the market value for 5.5M in cap is 2 2nds and a 3rd….

Honestly, I really don't care about the other teams. Protecting Kassian doesn't make any sense unless there's plans to trade him later on to fill a need elsewhere. Otherwise, it's an opportunity lost to potentially free up some much needed salary especially the two years after this one when the Oilers could be cap strapped again.

Hold up, the Blues are exposing Tarasenko to Seattle? I just can't believe that nobody would offer up any value for him. Hell, even a 7th rounder is better than losing him for nothing.
They must know that something is REALLY wrong with his shoulder because this is shocking.

I think they believe sending that 7.5 million Landeskogs direction directly upgraded their team.

Maybe no teams were willing to take on Tarasenko without getting retention or sending salary back.

We definitely have a pretty big contingent on here who support all of the GM moves no matter what. Just a microcosm of what you see on Twitter and the Oilers Facebook page though

Honestly I don’t care who the target is, what position they play, or even the fit- I just want to the Oilers to make an absolute steal of a trade.

A trade where the entirety of the hockey community can agree that the other team got absolutely screwed. The Oilers have been on the receiving end of that feeling far too long
