There is a touch but realistically it means Bouchard takes the minutes. If VD can take on 10 or so minutes a night with no issue we are golden

Vinny played 14 the other night and looked great he’s ready for more responsibility

I dislike rishaug as well be there is some pretty negative impacts to playing offside D both in the offensive and defensive zone.

Ekholm started on the Right side this season and preds fans said they couldn’t have got him back to the left side fast enough as he was not nearly as good there.

Think of it in the d zone you instantly are holding the puck to the middle towards your net and trying to pick up anything along the boards with your back turned to the opposition giving them easily a step on you which makes a big difference at nhl speed. Then in the o zone any pass from low up the boards you have to stop with your backhand or skate again giving the opposition time to close on you. Basically you have to be a fantastic distributor to justify it or accept the consequences that there is going to be more mistakes and killed plays

Exactly. The crying for Rishaug needs to stop. Barrie wasn't the be-all-end-all for us. I was fully prepared to see Barrie leave eventually as he was just a stop-filler until Bouchard or someone else was ready for bigger responsibility on the offensive side. I'd argue we are MUCH better than we were before.
 
I just wanted to say thanks to everyone here for putting up with my movie titled parody and poster threads over the last week or so leading up to today. I had some fun with them so I hope they got a laugh or a chuckle or at least a smile out of most you.

Happy deadline day, even if Holland got his shopping done early!

Just speculating, but I believe there was an issue with an injury where he opted for rehab instead of surgery and it was reaggravated. So I have a feeling there might be a risk he was dealing with a pain med addiction. Alcoholism is always a possibility, too.

Nice low risk play by St Louis though. Vrana is an elite goal scorer. I'm a big fan of what they've done at the deadline.

Big names off the board, and in general lots more trading than normal before deadline day. I have the same feeling, I always tell my wife not to bother on TD-day, but this time I'll take her out to dinner instead of following. Oilers are probably done anyway.

Pittsburgh has $400K in cap space. I am not seeing how a deal for Miller that only involved picks was going to work.

Pittsburgh is in a tough spot. They are only a year or two from their whole core collecting Social Security. Malkin and Letang are both 35+ contracts though Letang will probably finish his career on LTIR.
