Move out Yamamoto and Pulju, usd a 3rd team to retain. Something. He put us in this cap hell with a flawed team. It’s his responsibility to fix it.
Who did TML move out? They gave STL no bad cap tonight. No one want Puljujarvi otherwise he would've been gone months ago...

Let's see what Holland does in the next couple weeks.. no need to panic just yet

He needs to waive both, see if there is a taker.
PJ has lost all puck skills.
Yamamoto tries really hard at every puck battle he loses.
Need a top 6 forward who is defensively responsible and can cover for McDrai's defensive lapses. Maybe that is Barbashev?

There would be other attractive options. A team like Buffalo may not look great now but in 2 years they would have cap space for both McDavid AND Drai, and have Tage Thompson locked in, and have a legit actual no.1 Norris caliber D in Dahlin and maybe a very good no.2 in the making in Power.

The Oilers shouldn't act like they have that on lock at all. Make the Finals is the minimum bar for the next 3 years or shut the f*** up Oilers, no one wants to hear why you couldn't do it.

Something in the water, up and down like a toilet seat, can't squeeze other gms, dollar in dollar out.
Stfu already and improve the team especially on the weak ass back end.

So you think he would go to COL , TOR or TB because of their cup success? It's a cap world and unless he plans on playing for league minimum there will be parity in the league.

This management locked up his buddies in Hyman, Nurse and Nuge for long term. I'm sure he had a part to play in us acquiring Kane and Campbell as well.. unless Oilers tear it down CHI style chances of McD staying are pretty good.
With the age of his buddies and the amount of what their next contracts will be… this team won’t be able to win a cup past their current contract anyways. All these players will be worse in 3-4 years and their contracts will make it hard to run a good roster. Our window is the next 3-4 years. After that it’ll be fumbling around as a maybe playoff team.

Doesn’t matter. Dubas found a way.

That's just accepting mediocrity which should be frowned upon when this team has two of the best players in the world and should at least win a cup or two in the remaining time frame. Anything less is just an absolute failure. Connor already doesn't give a rats ass about more individual trophies. He wants the cup. Get him the right players to help support it.

Don't think I'd ever hear that from a pens fan when they have Crosby and Malkin.

What was complicated about that trade? The double retention is something that has been discussed since the draft. It'll be necessary for us to add anyone of note.

Don't think Kenny could pull it off unless his hand was held. Of course now that it's been laid out in front of him, Holland will probably try to copy Toronto because basically all he does is leech off their sloppy seconds but he'll do us the extra disservice of dragging this on all month long so we have to keep one of our better D in Bakersfield while Puljujarvi does jack shit here.

That ROR trade is ugly. But, Holland needs to offload some futures for a good veteran D man.
I'm not sure about that. I'm a bit surprised they got a 1st, but Acciari was a big pull in that deal.

If ROR is healthy, that is a BIG add for the series against TB. That's their answer for the three lines they're going to be rolling out come playoff time.

The matchup center is a huge help.

That's a lot for a rental, although Accari is a nice add too, but you have to admire Dubas going for it. He knows the clock is ticking in the Matthews window and is willing to do what it takes to maximize it.

I don't know if I would have spent that much for O'Reilly and Accari but I bet it gets those Leafs players jazzed up when a GM pitches in to help. Too bad because I thought O'Reilly would have been the best pickup for the Oilers outside of the big fish Dmen.

Then Holland needs to give us a better roster asap
Roster looks fine other than inexperience upfront and on D.

Worst players are Bouchard, Broberg, Holloway, Puljujarvi and maybe Yamamoto..

The bottom 6 looks pretty good with Janmark,Foegele, Kostin, Ryan, McLeod and Holloway

We need a top pairing Dman and maybe another top 4 to push Ceci,Kulak down and Bouchard Broberg out.

2 playoff series wins in 3 years should never be acceptable right in the middle of the primes of two of the best players on the planet. I think we, as fans, need to set the bar higher.

The entire right side D is dog shit except for Desharnais at actually defending people.

The only acceptable award for this team. Enough said.

At least Dubas will put his nuts on the table. Holland is a coward.

Not sticking up for Holland but Dubas probably only has half a nut left at this point. Can’t get past first round, Matthews expiring sooner than McDavid.

This will be Holland next year, if he’s still here

Hello? Hyman? RNH? Kane? Especially with two having career years. That's why the GM gets them the right supporting cast. Somebody like a superstar on the backend in Erik Karlsson. Not a mere underwhelming player that doesn't move the needle like a Ghostbear.

Especially in a division that's weak and still ripe for the Oilers to overtake and win.

Dubas probably knows he’s probably gone after another 1st round exit or when Matthews doesn’t re-sign. So he probably made this trade knowing he doesn’t have to live with the consequences.

No way he does this trade if Toronto was a legit top 4 contending team or if Matthews was extended 8 years already

4 players pacing for 100 point seasons and the no.1 scorer and no.2 scorer in the league should get you better than a wild card spot.
Maybe Holland should have passed up on Kane and acquired someone like Josh Manson instead...

Hindsight!

Doesn't translate to wins because there is more to scoring points in the game.

O'Reilly was definitely my #1 preference. Having a guy like that in the ear of our vets would have a long-lasting impact. I'm still optimistic that Toews could be an option, if healthy. Henrique would probably be an even bigger get.
