Seems like a good guy. Welcome to the Oilers, big boy!
I say 2. Everyone else has been traded to the Leafs by tomorrow.
It feels like we rarely trade prospects but when we do they become serviceable NHLers. Often times because they want out anyways like Marino and Reider but Chiarelli made it rain picks for other teams failure prospects. Kostin has been a rare win on that front. I agree with your take on Kesselring, what we gave him up for equates to much less value than I place on that particular prospect. He's a late round pick who is gaining traction with elite size, skating and two way defending game a couple years into pro development. Virtually no prospect defensemen jump directly to NHL. Said already, he's not a prospect I'd throw away for a sub $1 million UFA journeyman to shave $500,000 off.
This team will need trade assets picks and prospects going forward. I'd have preferred to continue Kesselring's development and utilize him for a bigger move or even nurture into a prospective bottom pair NHL option. Still need to grow your prospect pipeline.
What did your source say, Speedyturtle 2.0?
Speedyturtle, Tony...Let's just say we are standing pat most likely unless we are blown away and its dependent on Yams health
No where has it been stated the Kesslering was thrown in for retention. Maybe Kesslering was the difference between it being a 3rd and 2nd?It's really not a lot of worry at all. I like the prospect more and feel his value is higher than a throw in for a UFA journeyman player and saving $500,000. I appreciate your concern for my sense of worry but you're the guy who was doom and gloom on Broberg's selection with such off the wall anxiety of writing off an age 21 high pedigree two-way defensemen. We'll both be fine, honest!
Least Bjugstad showing more ethusiasm about coming here than Brassard did :p
Chiarelli was an absolute failure that strip-mined this team's NHL roster and struggled to build up the prospect pipeline. I have more trust in Holland who made his bones as a scout and managed an elite, sustaining Wings team.It feels like we rarely trade prospects but when we do they become serviceable NHLers. Often times because they want out anyways like Marino and Reider but Chiarelli made it rain picks for other teams failure prospects. Kostin has been a rare win on that front.
I had high hope for Brassard but it seems he never wanted to be here and couldn’t wait to bail.Brassard was such a waste. Good for a few games then seemed like he couldn’t care less to play. I wonder if they poked around a bit to see if both Ekholm and Bjugstad had some enthusiasm to come here
