Agreed to play behind Nurse, Ekholm, Kulak, Broberg. He'll be a good AHL producer with no chance to break in the Oilers lineup. Whereas RD there might be a path for a 6'5" two-way defender who can skate.
Skate where? Like why are we treating him like a 1st round pick 2 years into his pro career? I'm happy he's developing and it sucks to have to move him, but man, tons of these guys exist on teams all over the league.

Maybe. Neither guy is an NHL player and probably never will be.

We have been bad so long people obsess over our low end prospects.

You'd need a third team to retain about $140k on Sheary and TVR to get them to 25% if my math is right.

That can't cost more than a 4th or something. Do it, Kenny. Give me that 23 man roster.

Numbers definitely favor Bjugstad over Domi so there is that.

So assuming we stay put, we’re really banking on Ceci or Bouchard stepping up and being able to consistently play high quality top 4 minutes.

We also need someone to step up and take a RW spot, and I think Lavoie has earned a call up.

Kane Mcdavid Yam
Hyman Drai Lavoie
Kostin RNH Foegele
Janmark Mcleod Bjugstad
Ryan

As a potential forward group.

Nurse Ceci
Ekholm Bouchard
Kulak Desharnais
Broberg

On D.

So either way, we need a RW and an RD to hopefully be able to tread water in a top 6 and top 4. Using that Lavoie spot as a tryout for him and maybe another look at Holloway once he’s healthy, and hopefully Bouchard goes god mode and can send Ceci to pair 2.

Now now half the young whippersnappers here have never seen a team that can win it all. Like you said we’ve been so bad for so long we hold on to our prospects like grim death.

Hell he's only the 3rd player to do it in 100 years
Yep one more time and he ties the NHL record

It's not about obsession. Anybody can be traded to improve this team at this stage of development. Not a great asset move in a weak prospect pool to flip a young, emergent 6'5" right shooting defense prospect to shave $500,000 on a journeyman, sub $1million bottom UFA NHL roster player.

Oil still need draft and prospect collateral for future moves to improve this team. I'd have kept a prospective breakout Kesselring for a better improvement opportunity while letting his raw game continue to develop in Bako.

It’s putting so much thought and worry into nothing…especially since we brought a prospect back too. Better players than Kesselring have been added into nothing trades. Happens often

The one shitty thing is Holloway is basically locked into the AHL unless someone hits LTIR.

They can only afford to swap Shore for someone making $850k or less.

edit: Lavoie too. He's at $870k.
I think they want Holloway to play down there till the playoffs, maybe gain some confidence.

Holloway is out at least another ~2-3 weeks. They're not going to recall him until after the Reg. season ends.
