Buying out a LW who had a bad season to sign another W who was bought out and had a bad season and is older is awful cap management.

I'm pretty sure they want Draisaitl at 2C and not 1RW

I'm not so sure about this. They keep talking about Strome as a centre, and the only way that's happening is one of Leon or RNH on the wing. And since we need RW more and RNH has never played wing, seems a lock Leon starts the year with Connor.

Imo, Strome is a winger and if that happens I'd think Leon will be the, 2C for sure.

Maroon/Jokenin - McDavid - Jagr
Maroon/Lucic - Draisaitl - Strome
Lucic/Jokenin - RNH - Puljujarvi
Caggiula - Letestu - Kassian
Khaira/Slepy

Klefbom - Larsson
Beauchemin - Russell
Nurse - Benning
Sekera (IR)

Wouldn't mind.

The problem/boon with signing Jagr is his likely inability to play 82 games at full speed. He's, well, old. If you do sign him, the plus side (or down side) is having to play a younger RW on a top 6 role (Slepy/Khaira/Puljujarvi) almost constantly. It's like signing a player who's guaranteed to be injured 20 games. Which, depending on your perspective on a player like Slepyshev/Khaira/Puljujarvi, could be a good thing.

The fact he can play both is awesome. Will pay dividends for years to come.

I have my fingers crossed for a Jokinen signing tomorrow. For sure the Oil wouldn't sign ANY players today with the Semenko stuff going on. Not hearing anything today should be expected. Jokinen is a solid contributor and his value in shootouts shouldn't be overlooked.... As dumb as the shootout is, it's real and he owns it. Worth something.

He had twice as many points as Pouliot last season on a much worse team, this is after 60, 44 and 57 point seasons while Pouliot has never scored 40 points, he can also play center if need be. Not to mention that his contract will likely be less than half of what Pouliot made. Oh and a fellow Finn to help ease Pulju's transition. I'm not sure what the problem is here.

Me neither.

People are going to complain no matter what.

Speedy Turtle = Dustin Nielson? Lol

I like Jokinen if true. Good depth player and will be great for Pulju

Jokinen's previous three seasons? 60 points, 44 points, 57 points...all well above Pouliot's career high. Jokinen also is a 50%+ faceoff, which makes him a center option. He's also a shootout specialist and plays in all situations.

He is a significant upgrade on Pouliot.

Agreed completely. My only hope is that for whatever he was signed for, is only one year.

Honestly, I'd actually prefer two. I think he will be a good vet to help ease JP in and help eliminate the language barrier. An extra year at a low cap hit would be fine with me.

Have to agree with this.

Assuming its no more than a 2 year deal with a low AAV Jokinen would be a definite step up from Pouliot.

I'd have to think it would be 1 year only for Jokinen.

He'd be signed after the main group of FAs, which means he's had trouble finding a spot.

We also don't want extra cap space on the books for next season obviously

Jokinen will be on the top line book it. And he'll be signed for at least 3 years. Maroon's contract is up, and I'm sure they dont feel like overpaying him to play with Mcdavid.

3 years for a 34 year old seems like a needless risk. One year deals for guys like him.
