Burkie would be a great option to rebuild intermission content around. Pair him with Kyle Bukauskis.

President’s, or GM’s Corner.
Burke is like the politically correct version of don cherry. He’s entertaining, and be a great add to his own 7 min segment like coaches corner was

It’s embarrassing (but not surprising) that Ron MacLean didn’t chose to hang ‘em up and go out on his own terms despite being waaaaay past his prime. Good riddance.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

The majority of those personalities were bad.

Friedman/Marek were big time geeks. MacLean was failing without Cherry. Bieska was ok (I'm sure he'll be picked up somewhere). Can you remember the last time you watched the intermission of a game? For me it might be 3 years ago. For sponsors that's a nightmare. Also the show needs to change. All that terrible Tim Hortons sentimentality, flag waving, etc. Horrible. Peter Puck might actually be more interesting...

I hope Ron Maclean is replace with Lizzo.
HNIC intermission panel hosted by Lizzo with panelists Jessica Allen, Akim Aliu, and Shireen Ahmed debate why hockey is problematic because the non-intersectionality can lead to inter generational trauma, and how more inclusive discourse can lead to equitable outcomes in hockey for marginalized groups

Don Cherry may have been that angry old white guy that sometimes....yeah.....but when it came to what he had to say about hockey he is what kept me in my seat during intermission.

Other than Bieksa, the rest of this batch of asshats can all take a walk in the snow.

I'd be happy if they got rid of MacLean and Friedman. The others I wouldn't care either way.

They’ll go with whoever they can get relatively cheaply. In my opinion this is all about money. The current panel made too much and they weren’t driving viewership, so it was an easy decision to let them go.

Frankly I don’t think panel personalities are going to drive viewership. People will watch or not based on whether they’re interested in the game.

I was hardly a Cherry fan, but Maclean clearly supported Cherry during the rant and didn’t try to rein him in. If Cherry got shitcanned, so should have Maclean. Maclean is greasy as they come. Hope he’s gone and never have to hear his bizarre off topic platitudes again.

IIRC there were multiple occasions when CBC and then Rogers were going to let go of Maclean and Cherry stepped in every time and basically said if he goes, I go.

The first time he had a chance to return the favour or at least help his friend out, he turtles.

The hosts take the heat but what about the producer(s)? Who is responsible for the touchy feely approach? And the vanilla, same ole, same ole intermissions?

So be it if they replace hosts but if it's the same production don't know how much difference it would make. Ralph Mellanby created Coaches Corner to be controversial and it was entertaining for many years (Howie Meeker was fun before that). The Hot Stove went back to when there were 6 teams. Those were the staples of the intermissions that someone decided weren't important. They need to put some spice back into the show.
