Clearly the panel will be replaced with AI Slot machines and more gambling ads.

The problem with HNIC is that they speak about everything BUT hockey to appease the "woke" crowd. It is literal indoctrination. I want to be able to sit down and watch great analysis, game breakdowns etc., player interviews etc.

Jennifer Botterill was a legend in terms of her hockey career. However, she brings NOTHING interesting to the broadcast. She's boring and vanilla and doesn't analyze the game very well. Cheryl Pounder is so much better and I always learn from her.

I like Kevin Bieksa and think he's great. Funny, edgy and clearly knows the game, the players etc.

Ron MacLean needs to go. He is nauseating.

Friedman is good and should be kept. He is well connected and offers a different perspective.

I'm pretty sure they still do those things.

I mean, not "great".

Honestly, somebody should've snapped up Taryn Hatcher to run a national panel before she got out of NHL coverage.

She clearly has the look needed, but is also damn good at running a panel. Problem is she's now moved on from the Flyers to the Eagles and is probably gonna end up on the fast track to a national broadcasting job in the NFL in a few years.

Yep. You know the panel is not worth watching. We had running jokes on the leaf board about what we were doing instead of watching. And if it isn't that, it is some weird hometown hockey thing where some obscure Canadian celebrity is interviewed and they spend 10 minutes talking about how great Canada is.

End every intermission with Ron solemnly mourning the illness or death of a random person no one has heard of and you wonder why people say F this let me know when the game is back on.

Nah, because Rogers/Sportsnet definitely ain't hiring anybody. Increasing expenses is antithetical to their existence.

They'll probably have an "AI" panel next season, that'll tell you the live odds of the game for the entire intermission and how many boosted SGPs they have available.
So, you're saying they're just going to use advanced analytics to do the talking and be wrong a lot?

Sounds like Rogers.

Is this the thread where people get upset that Hockey Night in Canada doesn't have enough American influence like NHL.com's articles lacking Canadians during the 4th of July?

What a joke. Bieksa is a breath of fresh air. Dude should be getting a raise if anything.

Here is one segment of what you find on TNT. Not sure what happened with SportsNet's 50 trillion dollar studio where they don't provide actual analysis of the games. Hrudey is definitely the worst of the bunch, comes across as preachy all the time while getting stuff constantly wrong.

What's the point of this? ''Hey, you guys grab one stick each and stand in the same place as the real play and do nothing but talk about it''.

You watch an NBA panel and they're light years ahead of whatever the NHL can muster. Bieksa is the only one with a personality and even then the likes of Barkley and Shaq make him look milquetoast.

How many years left on this god forsaken contract?
nba analysts USUALLY give you honest opinions whether good or negative. Nhl analysts in Canada have all become cheerleaders and scared to call anyone out. Bound to happen when the team owners also own the media conglomerates.

Bieksa is literally the only personable one of the bunch.

Elliotte Friedman being the face of hockey broadcasting has to be the worst thing to happen to the league in ages
Yeah, Friedman as a cultural touchstone is really the nadir of Canadian civilization.

Well if they are scraping the crew, they might as well start from scratch. HNIC hasn’t felt the same since Rogers took over. Not sure if it’s me getting older or what, but it just doesn’t feel like what HNIC. Maybe its the fact that all the Rogers sportcasts feel the same so Saturday doesn’t have a special feel to it.
