I always watch the game on PVR delay and fast forward through the intermissions.

I've started doing that more often (especially since becoming a parent), usually trying to time it so the game ends at the same time as my recording.

Unless of course I'm riding the gnarly emotional waves of the team GDT in real-time.

"YOU SUCK HAMONIC! I HOPE YOU BURN IN HELL!"

"That wasn't Hamonic, it was Brown who coughed it up."

"Well ok then."

Good. Personality is rare in hockey.

People complain about the same vibes from Biz, but the TNT panel is the most entertaining presentation the NHL has ever put together.

TNT shits all over ESPN.
Colorful personalities are like defensive d-men. People will pick on the one cringe play, but won't give credit for the dozen good plays they make.

Lol I wish. I have too many group messages where my phone blows up on Oiler gamedays and NFL days.
I wait about an hour to start watching. That typically gets you to the point where your finishing the game at the time when it really ends... and if there is OT you are watching it in real time.

And, I completely disconnect from my devices while watching. There's nothing more important than the game, so why would I check my messages?

I don't see a lot of people pulling for Outdoor Life Network.
I'd honestly go back to OLN before having to deal with Leah Hextall unexcitedly (Yet in a shrill voice) calling an OT GWG and having them cut to Scott Van Pelt before the celly even happens so they can show NBA highlights.

I hope Ron is simply retiring and not getting axed. He is a staple.

I like Bieksa. He is good. If he is gone, it better be for someone with equal personality and actual knowledge of NHL hockey. Like someone who has actually been a player and can give proper analysis.

Botterill can go. She sucks.

Fantasy sports implications lol.

Think the issue is they wanted him to retire for a bit now and he just keeps coming back.

And yes they need a guy that can give proper analysis, but they have to be able to communicate that in a way that the average fan can understand. Not always an easy task.

TNT is the best thing to ever happen to the NHL.

For all you Botterill haters out there

Botterill can kinda irritate me sometimes. Super knowledgeable, but I don't think she's comfortable yet, at least with the TNT group.

Like, there's points where she has nothing to say, but will make a noise or an unnecessary affirmation as if she feels like she needs to say something to justify being there.

I probably didn't explain that well at all... Kinda hard to explain without having an example on hand.

You realize what this means? They're not replacing them with new talent. They're cutting these guys as a cost-saving measure. They're trying to salvage some revenue from their horrible rights deal. The intermission segment is just going to be a 17-minute betting ad/odds reading. 100%.

Elliote will talk about trade rumours for 1 minute, then they'll flip to some cheap no-name they can hire to read off Bet365 odds for the rest of the intermission. Gotta get those brand dollars.

They're not bringing in anybody to replace them. Intermissions are just going to end up being a 17 minute betting ad.
So, you're saying I shouldn't bad mouth Rogers as I may have a job opportunity ?

FTR I love me Botterill, but I'll be the first one to state that she doesn't really go too in-depth. She's like store-brand vanilla ice cream and that's okay for me, but considering her to other female broadcasters she is the best. I haven't heard enough of Pounder to make an opinion of her.

Dont really care to be honest, rarely listen to mid-game panels.

I do enjoy what I’ve seen of Bieksa, but Id rather he just start a podcast with Kris Versteeg or something.

Lundqvist is amazing, why not just have all of them?
TNT did a solid job of rotating through multiple guys after Tochett left and still maintaining good chemistry.

Honestly, they could get rid of Gretzky and maintain all those salaries with his $5M. I was for Wayne being on the broadcast initially, but he's there about 20% of the time, and when he is there, you can't tell he doesn't want to be.

Brutal. Sorry to hear.

Doubt Roger's wants to be known for killing hockey night in Canada.

Maybe they are getting rid of McLean, Bieksa and Hrudey and being back Stromboloplus?

Jesus -- McLean needs to be put out to pasture, but Strombolopoplopoplop's tenure as HNIC host is undoubtedly the worst period in the show's history.

There is 0% chance of this happening.

Rogers is doing this purely to cut costs, not to refresh the segments. Now they're going to try and recoup the revenue by making intermissions 17 minute betting ads/odds readings.
When I was 11 years old we had a road hockey tournament and I called up a buddy who lived down the street and told him to come play. I remember him riding in on his bike with one hand on the bars and the other holding his stick straight up in the air, all while he was singing the HNIC theme song at the top of his lungs. DUN DU NUH DU NUH, DUN DU NUH DU NUH, DUN DU NUH DU NUH DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!

It really does bother me how one of our cultural institutions has been carved up and sold to the telecoms who've accelerated it directly into the ground. Hello Canada and hockey fans in the United States and Newfoundland, can you believe that you can PARLEY ON EVERY PLAY?
