Botterill might be the best female analyst I've seen.
I find Cheryl Pounder way better personally. Jennifer Botterill just talks about the most obvious thing that happened, she gets the easy lobs to "hit out of the park", and still doesn't bring anything insightful or interesting.

Bieska is decent, and Elliott is solid, but the rest don't bring much personally or a level of knowledge which isn't already obvious to the attentive viewer.

I think it's kinda funny how they held a huge contest for the new HNIC theme and then used it for like... one year.

I haven't watched any hockey panels in years. Too much fellating of the Leafs. Rogers blows, what else is new. Not that TSN is all that much better since they're even worse in the Leafs fellating regard.

You watch an NBA panel and they're light years ahead of whatever the NHL can muster. Bieksa is the only one with a personality and even then the likes of Barkley and Shaq make him look milquetoast.

How many years left on this god forsaken contract?

As much as it would please me to no longer be exposed to Ron MacLean, Hrudy and Botterill, if Rogers replaces these folks solely from within and not add a few fresh new faces it could be absolutely horrible. Their talent pool is rather weak and biased.

Here's a throwback for old time's sake:

You either love him or hate him, even with his x-phobic rants, he was a must watch TV when he spoke hockey. It was like watching an accident that you can't turn away from. Leafs fans will remember Alexei Ponikarovsky - I still chuckle at how Cherry would refer to him as Pony Horseky. In the 90s HNIC 1st intermission with Ron and Don was must watch TV, to the chagrin or outrage of opposing fans of the Leafs, but it was never a dull moment with him on TV in that segment.

He was just on TV too long past his expiration date.

Sure lol. All she does is preach taking physicality out of the game. Dislikes fights, dislikes hits. Preachy and can't handle being disagreed with on the panel she always seemed like she was ready to cry when Bieksa said he disagreed and they would argue.
Lol agreed, was always funny/awkward seeing their interactions with eachother.

I actually feel sorry for Cabbie.

Having to shill for those gambling sites as part of his job.
Unfortunately he's not even good at it.

What he used to be great at was the seemingly spontaneous, unscripted interviews with players and such. It's crazy that in this day and age with social media and the internet they couldn't carve out a role for him to do stuff like that. He wouldn't even need to be on TV, just put him on the Sportsnet IG and TikTok. Instead he's just struggling through betting odds.

Can't see Hextall coming here. I'm not really a fan of Botterill but she's significantly better than Hextall.

I'm glad he isn't good at it, LOL.

I hate the odds segments.

We've got pictures of baby fetuses on our cigarette packs in this country because cigarettes are addictive, and at the same time, we have sportscasters running through betting odds on primetime hockey television.

At least be consistent here.

They should show some poor bankrupt schmuck on a park bench in the corner of the screen whenever the odds segments come on. Or, if you're more of a libertarian, do away with the warnings that Health Canada puts on virtually everything.
