Funny, he was the one guy I DIDN’T think was unbearable to listen to. I can’t stand people like Anthony Stewart, Jennifer Botteril, Ron MacLean etc
There's a point where his schtick gets tiresome. It was funny watching him but it go to a point where it was just kinda sad and him getting turfed felt like a mercy kill.

Plus he was just another Tarahna fellater, never cared about the other Canadian teams.

Howard Berger is still around?

All I see this is as is Sportsnet cutting costs yet again. Their production was already heading downhill and this won't make it any better.

Really like Botterill and Bieksa. And as for Bieksa I hated him being an Oiler fan. Even his first year when he was doing some commentating in the arena during intermission he was horrible, but he's come a long way.

Not surprised on Maclean, even though his a long standing fixture of hockey night in Canada it seems like it was time.

On a side note. Is it just HNIC or are these people being outright cut from Sportsnet?

Bieksa rules, if you think you're going to get anybody better than him, you're a very optimistic hockey fan.
I could understand if Sportsnet had some other up and comers, but f*** was it bad the past year. They had so many new people working at Sportsnet last year from week to week, and nothing was sticking.

I disagree, she was just extremely progressive compared to the others. By far the most accomplished panelist, and one that advocated for less of the old-boys club mentality in the NHL. Never saw anything wrong with that.

Accomplished panelist? What does that even mean?

A good panelist is entertaining and doesn't say dumb shit. She is boring and says a lot of dumb shit.

I have switched to american feeds primarily due to simply personality

Hnic is beyond dull.. like painfully dull and boring .. it walks the line of explaining math to a grade 1 class while being politically, ethnically and sexually neutral

Axing Bieksa is absolutely bizarre. He is probably the best there is anywhere as an ex-player intermission guy. Funny, intelligent, very recently removed from the game.

Botterill going is also strange.

This group was the best they've ever had on HNIC - which admittedly isn't a high bar - so I have no idea what the thinking is, other than just cutting costs. Or just filling entire intermissions with betting segments.

Bieksa could be making too much money for them. Probably figure they can find some other player trying to get into the business for a portion of the cost.

It's kind of gotten to the point depending who was on panels that I quit watching intermissions. On non-nationwide games when it's just two guys talking it's so boring and useless. Which is sad really. There was a time where intermissions were a major part of the game for me. Now it's do housework.

They will probably bring in Bissonnette

Could see Burke being brought in too
Way too expensive and way too much of a personality for them.

Good.

MacLean f***ing sucks.

Don't really like Hrudy.

Get Dave Amber to take over MacLean's spot
You realize what this means? They're not replacing them with new talent. They're cutting these guys as a cost-saving measure. They're trying to salvage some revenue from their horrible rights deal. The intermission segment is just going to be a 17-minute betting ad/odds reading. 100%.

Elliote will talk about trade rumours for 1 minute, then they'll flip to some cheap no-name they can hire to read off Bet365 odds for the rest of the intermission. Gotta get those brand dollars.

They're not bringing in anybody to replace them. Intermissions are just going to end up being a 17 minute betting ad.
