I dont know if its cause of the Don Cherry fallout, but he seems way too eager to throw out progressive statements now.

Some people might be surprised that a handful of soundbytes don't define a person. People who know him personally seem to speak highly of him, including Sean McMorrow, who would know better than any fan would. Love him or hate him he's more entertaining than any other hockey media personality out there.

I do like Bieksa, but Ron's relevance left with Don.

Bieksa and Hrudey fly in every weekend from California and Calgary. Hrudey didn't offer much IMO, and Bieksa, while funny at times, can be really abrasive.

I like Botterill. I thought she brought a level-headed approach with a strong base of knowledge.

You either love him or hate him, even with his x-phobic rants, he was a must watch TV when he spoke hockey. It was like watching an accident that you can't turn away from. Leafs fans will remember Alexei Ponikarovsky - I still chuckle at how Cherry would refer to him as Pony Horseky. In the 90s HNIC 1st intermission with Ron and Don was must watch TV, to the chagrin or outrage of opposing fans of the Leafs, but it was never a dull moment with him on TV in that segment.

Don was blunt, but I don't think he was xenophobic. He didn't care where you from if you played the game the right way. I mean look at his affection for Kadri.

Friedman is the only one worth watching, Bieksa is ok but the rest of the panel..lets just say, for better or for worse, HNIC first intermission hasn't been a must watch TV for the past two decades since Cherry started talking about wars and politics in every segment.

When MacLean threw Cherry under the bus and made a canned corporate statement after, I lost all respect for him. To me that's when HNIC truly died.
