Admittedly, not playing is still not playing. Yes, I think Torts would suck major ass developing offense out of a kid like this, but yeah, both are bad right now.

Seriously, this shit is frustrating seeing SKA just do nothing with this, but a completely nothing Galchenyuk gets 1C.

I'd rather he not play for a few games than be actively taught the wrong way to play, which is what the Flyers do

Michkov's hometown doesn't have a KHL team, but he previously was in the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl system, so let's see if he plays there on the 8th of September.

Btw someone here asked if there's a way to watch the KHL legally and apparently there is a solution:

Not all institutions in Russia are under sanctions though, just some banks, very likely that the KHL's bank isn't one of them, otherwise pretty sure the google would block the payments there.

Finding any kind of workaround screams "don't play with this" to me. Google pay uses your existing bank and credit cards. You can't use those directly, but once Google is a middleman you can? I wouldn't mess with it. I'm just gonna content myself with the highlights posted here. More reason to celebrate when Putin croaks. Because otherwise at that price it's a no-brainer buy to watch this guy.

Pay money to see him play 6 minutes.... what about no. The russian factor is already starting to show. I dont see him making an impact here if he f***ed with ska and the russian System.

That seems already to be a problem
 
I think people are overreacting just a tad.
KHL is a conservative league.
Given his draft position and hype, wouldn't surprise me if there's a target on his back, at least to start the season.
Not the worst thing if he gradually eases his way in this season.

I'd be worried if it were March and he was stuck in a 4th line role.

What's there to defend? SKA isn't a Flyers affiliate. :laugh:

He's 18, in a man's league, playing big minutes from game 1 wasn't a likely outcome.
He's not coming over for three years, so there's no rush and nothing to get excited about.
Now if he's not a top ten scorer in the KHL in 2025-26, yeah, that's problematic.

I must add that since there hasn’t been any international competition for team Russia in the last 2 years, the hype around Michkov in Russia has dwindled down, at least in the media. I think the fact he wasn’t picked top 3 also played a role in it as most people in Russia have no clue how draft works
