Michkov is 18, playing in a man's league that is notoriously conservative.

He's too good not to play, but it wouldn't be surprising if he gradually works his way into a first line role as the season proceeds, at some point his talent will force his HC (who needs to win, KHL isn't a development league) to play him big minutes.

From the Flyers' perspective, patience is a virtue, they'd like to see him develop at center, both offensively and defensively, and be a polished product when he comes over.
and drunkenness a vice

Should I be worried that he got scratched? Or was that just a “take a day, kid”?
no, dont be worried, he had a great preseason. the first two tournaments he was the best skater on the ice every night and the last tournament they used him less while they rotated everyone in and out of the lineup. SKA needed to narrow down its roster pretty fast before the season starts so they gave everyone a game or two while they made decisions and now everyones speculating why Michkov sat. it probably wasnt performance though, Im guessing they didnt want him to get hurt in the preseason as last year he was injured 3 games into the year and missed half the season. he would have benefited from the extra time while he's learning centre for sure, but if there were a reason to be concerned they would have moved him back to wing. we'll see what the opening night roster looks like but Im pretty sure he's going to start the season in the bottom of the lineup and work his way up. he wont be the 13th forward every night though

What slanted media information? In fact the current topic has little to do with Philadelphia anymore.

This entire shitstorm has evolved into a KHL vs Russian Ice Hockey Federation/IIHF tug of war.

Media is just reporting what is occurring and what fedotov, himself, is saying.
What is Fedotov saying? He could very well playing it cool after all he went thru last year. He likely doesn’t want to rock the boat.

Every player on the team spent time sitting out in the preseason. They have tons of players to evaluate and decide whether to keep or send them somewhere. The only players who played every game I believe are Tolchinsky and Demidov. Tolchinsky, idk, maybe he asked to. And Demidov, in their minds they're probably having a really tough time deciding whether to keep him

The most likely explanation for Michkov is that they evaluated him in the first tournament, he killed it, they said "ok he's clearly on the team", then used him sparingly for the next tournament. Also explains why he looked less motivated in the 2nd tournament

What has he said?
Fedotov danced around why he was sent to the military, but he made it clear he didn't care for his time there. Said he was counting the days on the calendar till he was done.

As for CSKA? He said he signed with them because he hasnt played or practiced at a respectable level for a year and needs to get back to his previous level. CSKA gave him the best opportunity to do that.

Reading between the lines.. he knows he’s currently nowhere close to NHL level but doesnt wanna be in the AHL.

It's very KHL, which IS NOT a development league.
Normally you don't see many players under 20 start there, Tyipically they pay their dues, MHL to VHL to KHL bench to KHL starter.

My suspicion is it's about pecking order, sitting a veteran for a 18 year old would not sit well with teammates, but if Michkov is as good as advertised, in a month or two he'll work his way up to 1C b/c he's the best player on the team and the HC wants to win, and so does his teammates.

And from the Flyer's perspective, limiting his PT at 18 is good b/c it'll reduce his chance of serious injury while he physically matures.

considering demidov is 17 and he's dressed as the 13th forward, its not an age thing this time. its either time to worry or theyre going to rotate demidov and michkov

Rotenberg has about as much KHL experience as Michkov. You'd think a guy who was practically gifted a head coaching job would be less conservative
