Gauthier is unproven at the NHL level, Cates is a natural LW. If michkov comes over as a center theres no need to have Cates play center, and his defensive game is already NHL level so he makes the most sense. Gauthier is more of a scorer, Farabee isnt known for his defense either so it didnt make sense for him to play top line. We already know Cates can play top line minutes against top lines,, and 3 years from now he's probably gotten better at it.

Cutter will possibly be a 2 year NHL player by the time Michkov comes over and if Cutter can't even cut the 1LW over Cates by then, then Cutter, just, well, doesn't cut it?

I dont think thats fair. Thats like saying Malkin didnt cut it because he's only 2C behind Crosby. Theres nothing unusual about a 1st round pick being a second line player. Im not saying he cant play 1LW im just not setting expectations that Cutter and Michkov are going to be the definite top line, its already a stretch putting Michkov as 1C

Briere needs to make sure they don’t finish out of range for Demidov if they’re not gonna get Celebrini or Eiserman… Turn Philly into the new Tampa/Washington for top Russians with Michkov and Demidov leading the charge.
I'd take Demidov over either today. And, I agree. Then Briere needs to convince the Canes to trade Alexander Nikishin, and the Flyers are well on their way.

theyre gonna see alot of demidov this year watching Matvei tapes, all the scouts are going to be watching demidov this year to make sure they dont miss out on another insane talent from russia. i hope we draft levshunov or dickinson personally but if we end up with Demidov I'd be ok with that too

So not counting the fake overtime played today, Michkov has accounted for all 3 of SKA's preseason goals so far

It had to be more, just crazy how many chances to his teammates he creates. He doesn't stickhandle like Demidov, it's enough just one touch for him to do what takes a lot of efforts for others, even crazy talents like Demidov. I understand why some people say Demidov has more talent than Michkov. I personally don't agree with this.

Demidov is a faster skater, slightly bigger and he stickhandles more in games because he has to. He doesn't see the game at the speed Michkov does. Nowhere close. Very few times in a hockey game is the hero play or the fancy stickhandling the correct move. Trying to go 1 on 3 through the defense is almost always a mistake. Especially at the NHL level.

Michkov has all the stickhandling and the michigan goals and the flashy shootout moves for days by the way. He just hasn't used it as much in games because his hockey sense, positioning and vision/playmaking is so good. Truly a generational talent.

Demidov is a really good prospect. I'd love to see the Flyers be in position to draft him. But he's nowhere close to Michkov.

Actually Demidov succeeds on moves like this pretty often, and he's just 17. When he comes to NHL at age 20 he'll be able to outstickhandle 3 players with way better chances than most NHLers.

Flyers don't draft BPA; they draft by need. As with everything else a flawed process
