I'm big on drafting Demidov even if just for the fact that he and Michkov are friends. (obviously take BPA). Synergy really big.

IDK how to feel about Michkov at Center in the NHL. I think it's good he's getting more work on his defensive game but hoping hes the flyers 1C of the future is a bit much.

Can never have too many centers on the roster though. They can slot anywhere.

It's usually players who played centers in junior hockey are moved to wings in pro leagues, and stay as wingers. When it's the other way round, they usually keep playing centers.

Very nice PP shift from him to get an assist.

This point really sums up his game I think very well.

Just so smart movement and anticipation wise.

Won face-off to start PP. Went to corner to retrieve a loose/bouncing puck. Give and go with Demidov. Pass from LHB to point. Went to the paint, taking 2 Dmen with him. Demidov got pass from point, open to walk in and pick 5-hole.

We can't be excited unless he's a prime Braun. Don't you get it!?

I hope TORTS is gone by the time Michkov gets here, but if not it will be interesting to see how things go. Evreything I've heard the kid say actually sounds up Torts' alley. He wants to get better, anything for the team, studied Crosby DEFENSIVELY, etc.

From the clips I've seen on the ice, he certainly doesn't seem like a floater. High motor, not afraid of going anywhere on the ice, super competitive.

And that's the other thing, it definitely seems like he has that type A competitive streak.

TORTS will have quite the conundrum on his hands.

On another note, reading the Michkov thread on the mains is fun. Wild to see other teams fans legit envious of one of our players for the first time ever

The Torts Michigan thing is funny because it's actually one of the few times (at least that I've ever seen) that he's shown compassion/empathy for a human (he apparently loves animals). He made his comments and some people took it as bashing Zegras rather than just as a commentary on the style of hockey he prefers to see. He reached out to Zegras to apologize and clarified that he "hoped he would do it again". And then in classic Torts fashion he tried to blame the media for his comments being misconstrued. lol

I think there's probably about a 10% chance Torts is still around here when Michkov starts his Flyers career, but if he is and Matvei happens to score one, I doubt Torts would care as long as he's backchecking and not floating. He'd prefer not to see gimmick plays in the game and if he was commish he might ban them, but he's not and other teams are scoring with it.

You hit the nail on the head about the stuff that would really irk Torts, and Michkov doesn't do those things.

I'm telling you right now, this is the reason to be excited to be a Flyers fan, I don't know if we've ever had the opportunity to draft someone this talented (remember we didn't draft Lindros lol). Get excited Flyers fans, this is as real deal as it gets. I don't know if it will happen but it would NOT shock me one f***ing bit if Bedard V. Michkov is the Crosby V. Ovechkin of this decade plus. I'm not hockey scout, but I called Giroux for what he was when I saw him play in Gatineau and he was special but he's nowhere near what I'm seeing from Michkov as a prospect, I cannot even f***ing believe this guy fell to 7, even with the KHL contract.

Torts really liked Panarin in Columbus and he was the main driving force for the Jackets offense, granted he is more of a playmaker and not as flashy, he still made tons of creative plays that sometimes backfired but Torts did not really have any major meltdowns

If Michkov turns into a center himself, then there is no reason not to draft Demidov. Make it f***ing so.
There should be no reason not to draft Demidov, Celebrini, Eiserman, or whoever is the best player available when we pick.

There's far too little top end talent in our system to be turning away from an elite talent just cause they don't play the ideal position.

But of course it would be awesome if Michkov sticks at center.

Michkov is going to be a center if he wants to be a center. (please see his prospect thread). The man's hockey IQ is different. I watch his games constantly on russian streams (i live in japan so times are similar). He has the intelligence and IQ to just do whatever, this is a Art Ross, Hart Trophy contender type guy. I don't care what anyone says I called Giroux in Gatineau and I called other prospects before, this guy is levels above all of them. There's just something about him and the way he reads the game. ( I watch all of his film and all of his games ). First time I've been excited since 2010, this man is different.
