I dont even think hes going full blast yet thats the crazy part. He did the first game in the sochi hockey open, but I feel like once the regular season starts he's gonna go full Matvei and run the numbers upIt is remarkable how virtually every tournament or season that Michkov plays in, he leads the pack in some way. (Either historically for his age group or leading scoring overall)

They should play him with 2 defensemen so he can get the hang of it.KHL, pre-season, 3-on-3, Mars in Venus waning, blah blah blah
Why would that be a conundrum?I hope TORTS is gone by the time Michkov gets here, but if not it will be interesting to see how things go. Evreything I've heard the kid say actually sounds up Torts' alley. He wants to get better, anything for the team, studied Crosby DEFENSIVELY, etc.
From the clips I've seen on the ice, he certainly doesn't seem like a floater. High motor, not afraid of going anywhere on the ice, super competitive.
And that's the other thing, it definitely seems like he has that type A competitive streak.
TORTS will have quite the conundrum on his hands.
On another note, reading the Michkov thread on the mains is fun. Wild to see other teams fans legit envious of one of our players for the first time ever
No, what Torts says gives you a sense how he'd use a player.AND WHAT TORTS SAYS, IS ALWAYS RIGHT

Torts isn't opposed to offense, he's opposed to offensive players who think if they score, they can slack off.
If Michkov has a high motor, back checks hard, is responsible defensively, Torts will give him carte blanche to create offensively.
Torts has said offense is less about coaching than instincts and skill, which is why he focuses on coaching defensive fundamentals.
you guys are REALLY overrating MM's ability to change how THIS Org views youth.I'm talking more about the fact that TORTS will have to realize he's not the biggest dog in the room anymore. Could be tough on the ego for someone like him. Right now he's the face of the franchise. That will not be the case when Michkov gets here.

even if he was Bedard! Torts wouldnt change how he deals with him... in fact he prolly is extra hard of him cuz "culture"...
the fans will expect to see a off the leash MM when he arrives... sadly the version you will see in Philly will 100% be a reserved "gotta grind/be responsible" version...
Torts doesn't ask skill players to "grind," he does ask them to be responsible.
Narrator: They screwed it upThey better not screw it up and draft out of the top 5 again. No way lighting strikes twice and a top of the draft talent falls to 7 again.
But why did the FHR suddenly become a champion of sobriety and the desire to interact with international structures - in this case, the IIHF , which disqualified the Russian team from all competitions? It doesn't really fit with the current paradigm.
Because the FHR is only formally Vladislav Tretiak , but in reality it is Roman Rotenberg . And Roman Rotenberg is also SKA. That is, FHR = SKA.
And what threatens SKA with a break in relations between the KHL and the NHL? The unhindered departure of all talented young people from St. Petersburg across the ocean. Matvey Michkov, Alexander Nikishin, Arseny Gritsyuk - and not only them, these names of the main Russian avenues just came to mind right off the bat.
That is, SKA will be the main victims of the demarche of CSKA and the KHL with Fedotov.
I very much admit, by the way, that CSKA President Igor Esmantovich came up with this move deliberately and for this very purpose, and the KHL “ate it”. True, CSKA may then lose Prokhor Poltapov, but here, after all, the losses will not be as dramatic as those of the main competitor in the Western Conference, ”wrote Rabiner.
