Long time lurker and first time poster… Been a long time since we could debate whether a kid is gonna end up being “just” a 40+ goal and 80 point guy, or a 50+ goal and 100+ point superstar. Most I’ve been invested in the Flyers and first time I’ve had hope in quite a long while. One of the hardest pieces to acquire and Danny managed to do so in his first offseason as GM. Still a long ways to go with the rebuild, but this is one hell of a way to start.

I’m almost 110% certain that if Fletcher was still GM, they would have passed. This is not a “risk” this team has ever been willing to take in the past and to me signals that there has finally been an actual change in both philosophy and direction. Actions speak louder than words, so this is a great sign going forward and makes it a bit easier for me to believe in Danny’s vision.

Make no mistake I like this draft pick and have no problem with his timeline but, let me guess he is a right winger . That makes Atkinson TK Tippet Allison Brink Forster Michkov . We are just about as bad with Goalies Hart Sandstrom Errson Bjarnson and our now 3 Russian goalies .

Atkinson won't be around, Tippett they should have sold high on, Brink has to prove what he is, likewise Foerster. Beef is not worried about it

This is why you draft BPA. None of those guys have the superstar, game-breaking potential that Michkov has. Acquire the talent and worry about the fit later.

Just started reading about Michkov's dad and the rumors that he was trying to get Michkov out of his KHL contract, left home saying that he'd be right back, then they find him dead after Michkov apparently received a mysterious call from someone on a device with bad reception somewhere...

I'm trying to avoid getting into the weeds on this, but I think it's worth noting that a journalist critical of mobsters was once thrown out his bathroom window (which had bars on it), and his death was ruled as a heart attack while moving his bathtub. You know, as happens. You go to move your bathtub (as you often do), have a heart attack, and jump yourself through steel bars to your death.

I mean, maybe it really was natural. But...yeah. You can't always trust such rulings.

Michkov is the only player on that list that I would 110% build around and that fits the timeline… I certainly wouldn’t let a player the caliber of Atkinson, Tippet, Allison, Brink, or Foerster stop me from drafting a RW if that was the BPA. Use some of those guys as trade bait if you can to gain as many assets as possible. Just draft BPA from here on out and you can worry about who fits where later. If you have to move some guys out later down the line to balance out the roster, then so be it.
